put a compass point in NY, draw a 800 mile circle, and all the good boat builders are beyond that, IA, LA, OR..

Anyone have any leads on a decent builder near NY, I have the basic design done, I need a specific width 1450

Right now just reaching out to some custom aluminum fuel tank makers in southern NJ, with no real experience in small boats.

Let me know if anyone knows any decent places. Shipping from any of the main makers will be over $1000 or at least a one-way SUV rental plus gas, which ends up being like $800

I would bet the extra money it cost to ship or pick up a custom boat would be worth it.

Yeah, you might at aswell, just take a vacation to come pick one up, i know prodigy has a boat going to ny once completed, he's in Georgia.

I am in the same boat. Hahahahahahhahaaaa that was lame. There was a guy that built customs in Kentucky but I called him and he stopped last year. Let me know if you hear of anyone and I will do the same. That looks just like woodiebusters

after talking with a few local tank welders...they are asking me questions about bracing and bow taper. Not inspiring much confidence, Im not supposed to be the teacher in the build.

I think I will take my lessons learned from buying a dixie long ago and just have a real professional build it instead of getting it cheaper and spending 2x more in rebuilding and modifying.

My roof rack is 51" max, so I was trying to get max beam with that dimention, this cad file is for a 46" beam hull with 50" top width. Someone messaged me Prodigy boats but even that is in ATL, hell of a drive and no one rents pickup trucks anymore for one-way trips

You mentioned the width of your roof rack. Are you planning to haul a 50" boat on your vehicle? Seems that would be quite a bit of weight.

To be honest the drawing is not a nice looking boat, having somebody build it that don't know what they are doing will only make it worse. Do it right the first time, I will save u a lot of heartache in the future. Having a boat that is time tested is the way to go.

I'm not targeting for sexiest boat of the year, needed max waterline beam that could fit on my 51" roof rack on my 4x4, and max length that could be run at +20mph with a copperhead 14, and keeping hull weight below 230lbs. If my criteria was more open I would not even consider building a hull from scratch. My hurdle isn't the design, it's the lack of qualified fabricators near by with even the most basic knowledge of bracing a mud hull correctly.

Weird..this is the last site I would imagine guys debating aesthetics of a product over functionality. Original post was to find local builders, not interested in discussions of hull beauty . Anyway anyone in NE knows any local builders please PM me
