 Crawfish skiff?
I'm looking to get a crawfish style skiff.....mainly because I need it to run tight timber. Can ya'll give me some suggestions on builders in the Southeast?
Pics of your favorite setup or manufacture would also be welcomed.
Thanks! Clay

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
They got a bunch of guys in South LA that build skiffs, search around a bit and you will find a bunch. Personally I like the lines on a Charles Leonard skiff the most but if your not local that may not be the best route for ya.

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
Do you ever cross much water open water or boat wakes? I decided against a skiff because of that and went with a really taper pointed bateau. http://mudmotortalk.com/mmt_v2/viewtopi ... =5&t=45193

I will very rarely be on any big water with this boat....mostly small rivers and flooded timber in NE arkansas.

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
Awesome picture JLACOUR!!
For my application an outboard would be sufficient....which performs better under ideal conditions on a skiff MM or outboard?

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
If you can run an outboard, then by all means run an outboard.
Here is a pic of the skiff Brother Breaux built me.

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
Tugar Martinez, Charles Leonard, Brother Breaux...you really can't go wrong with anybody in that neck of the woods when it comes to building skiffs. Leonard and Tugar both been building em a long time, and from what I've seen on here Brother is building some of the slickest stuff around right now. Aucoin doesn't build boats anymore, does he? He built some real fine boats when he was.

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
I've stopped and talked with the guys at EMF were very nice and the boats they were working on and the ones that were built was well built and nice. I do agree with others that brother Breaux are building nice heavy duty rigs also only thing that I don't like is the exposed latitude braces on the floor. Charles Leonard boats are heavy duty and built to last and the lines are very slick. Not sure if it has to be brand new one but they usually have a few forsale on the Lasportsman classifieds. Just if you buy one used and it has a double bottom welded in pull the back plug out of the subfloor to see it is leaking.

 Re: Crawfish skiff?
I have a small skiff I'll sell you really cheap. Solid construction. Reputable builder. 5 inch gunnels. No exposed cross members. Wall to wall subfloor.

No offense taken, just saying that he builds them both ways depending on what the customer wants!

I do like how he added that extra plate on the bottom of the bow of your boat.
