Fixin to start building a boat with a stage 2 GTR. I haven't build any boats for a GTR yet so I wanna make sure the boat Im gonna build will perform right with it. Here's the specs: 17' with a 46" bottom, triple taper chine or double taper(depending on performance) 46" in between tapers, 6'-6'6" rake. 20" sides, hunt deck, 20.5" transom @ 20*. All 1/8" materials. With a hybrid V bow. I hunt timber 90% of the time so I can't have a very wide boat. What's yals thoughts on this set up?

What's your thoughts on double vs triple taper chine?

Can someone explain the difference in handling and turning between double and triple taper chine?

Boomer sounds like a good build to me. on your double or triple taper PM RJ (duckhunterF250) he has owned or built every chine from square to round. he can help you out and hes a good guy with lots of experience. good luck on your build keep us posted

I would spend the extra $$ and use 5086 alloy and a 3/16" bottom. Rest of the boat will do fine with 1/8". I also placed 7 stringers instead of 5. Very, very solid boat. With your size boat the added weeight of using 3/16" on the hull would only add about 60 lbs. You would not hardly notice any difference in performance either.

I will most definitely use 5086. And I built my last boat with a 3/16 bottom. Ill most likely end up doing the same on this one.

It's taken me 2 boats to figure out that I need 3/16! I would rather sacrifice speed for longevity!

Def makes the last longer. Used 3/16 on my last one and I hit every stump I could find WOT and never did our a dent in the bottom
