8 months old. Does fairly well ob. Loves water and retrieves well. Still along road ahead but I think he's doing well for 8 months.

To many dogs named Drake, deak, clodd and Bartholomew! Hell I don't know, my 11 yr old son named him and it stuck.
Wtf is wrong with woody. Hell i think its better than my neighbors dog that is a stray from the black part of town and he named it "****** lassy " besides when I take him to a classy dog park in the woodlands and some milf ask me which dog is mine I can reply " this is my woody, want to pet my woody"!

Thanks for the support. Took him out today and worked him with the gun. He's doing well. Its all business when I shoulder the gun.

Hey there, I get the name thing I think what AKA is getting to is naming your dog close to a word that may be used commonly and they dog will get confused. There also is a difference in releasing and sending your dog. My dog is sent on her name (as most) Gauge, but her release command one which I effed up but have to live with it OKAY. Very poor choice on my part but it was my first dog and now I have to live and work around it. You see and very well know okay is a very common word used and she will some times hear it and think "great free time" not so much from guys I hunt with but more so from me lol.

As well from looking at your pics I would tend to stay away from orange bumpers for marks and use them for blinds. If this is the stage your dog is at that is fine. For marking white is a much better color for that application there are a few factors to take into account, like what you are trying to accomplish, back ground thrown against.

Here is a quick little quote from Outdoor Life on Gun Dog's

"WHAT ABOUT COLORS?

Retrieving bumpers come in different colors for two reasons:

1. How dogs see: Dogs don't see in color; rather they see in shades of gray. Contrast and motion are important.

2. What you're trying to accomplish: What color bumper you use will depend heavily on what you're training that day.

For instance, if you're working on marking drills, typically you want a bumper that's highly visible and large enough show plenty of motion. Most of the time that will be a large white bumper.

White provides great contrast against most dark to medium-shade backgrounds like fields, tree lines, etc. Dogs can pick it out easily and follow the trajectory throughout the fall.

If you're working in a wide-open area with a light background (lots of big, white, fluffy clouds or white buildings, etc), you might want to go with a darker bumper or a black-and-white, half-and-half bumper.

Many people will tell you that dogs can't see orange. That's not true. They see it. They just see it as a shade of gray. Apparently, that shade of gray matches many other shades found in the environment. Because orange blends in with grasses, most people use them for blinds so that the dog doesn't just cue in on a white bumper and run to it (which is a drill used before going to cold blinds and for building confidence and trust). While the bright orange blends and hides the bumper from the dog's eyesight, it makes it easy for people to see.

The concept is the same for other colors of bumpers (which range from dark green to gray to blue to yellow to camo to glow-in-the-dark and more): use a color that contrasts with the background that the dog will see behind it for marks and use a color that blends in with the environment for handling drills and blinds so the dog has to rely on you and can't just use his eyes to pick out the pile."

Main thing is be consistent and have fun with you dog and thy not to confuse them.

I don't think he is. , strictly a family pet and companion that just do happens to like and wants to retrieve ducks.

Just a family dog that loves to retrieve. I have no plans in paying a professional trainer cause I'm not looking for that type of dog. Thanks for inquiring though
