 Gator tail or pro drive
I know everyone has there own opinions about which is better just wondering what will be best for what I want to use it for. I'll be mostly fishing out of it with the occasional duck hunt and bowfishing trip. Going back and for with both types whichever motor I choose Ill get there hull also. Will be using in the myrtle grove area. I really like the xrs gator tail makes and like I said I plan on mostly fishing out of it but want to be able to do hunt and ride through the marsh also.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
Go to Loreaville and test them both. I'm also sure there are members in your area that will take you out. You have to find the one that you like and will fit you best.

 Gator tail or pro drive
Go to each shop and test drive them. Buy the one that gets you off the most.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
Both can do what you described. It's all about personal preference. I went with the Prodrive because I liked the full power reverse for where I hunt. Best advice which has been given already is drive to Loreauville and check out both shops and test drive. It's the only way to get a feel for which you would like best.

Does each shop in loreauville have a lot of complete rigs ready to go or do you have to order in advance and wait 12 or so weeks?

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
Check with some of the dealers. Calen's engine has GTR motors ready to go most of the time. Gt has some base model boats in stock some time. Call Calen's engine service. He can hook you up if he can.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
They both have some complete rigs to look at are you planning on goin cc or tiller? If so prodrive is more Easer on your arm like your almost driving a out board and gator tail is a little more harder on you cause of tourq but deffently test driving the boat you want would be the right route

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
This is my first time buying a brand new boat so I'm wondering are dealers prices negotiable? I found a complete rig at a dealer for around 23-24k and that's before ttl. The most I really want to spend is around 20k before ttl. 3 or 4 more thousand doesn't seem like a lot if your willing to spend 20 but on a note it's another 50 dollars a month.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
I'm not sure how dealers work, but if you have a budget then maybe you should go straight to either Gatortail or prodrive and build ur rig to fit ur budget. I don't see a dealer knocking off 10-12% to make a deal.

They are not going to have a whole lot of wiggle room in the pricing. They may come down some, but I highly doubt 3k.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
I sent in requests to both shops when I was looking for a boat. I got detailed quotes from gatortail and Prodrive. I ended up getting a boat built, bought my motor from Prodrive and let them install, and bought a trailer. I had the boat built exactly like I wanted and came in about a few thousand cheaper than buying a complete rig from either place. First you gotta figure out exactly what you want then go from there.

Re: Gator tail or pro drive
here is my unbais opinion on the situation: For fishing and/or hunting Do you want a console? CC or Side or Tiller If you decide console, then either motor will be fine. If you want tiller, then the PD drives more like an outboard. Both have reverse, GTR is instant, my PD can spin the lower unit around in under 2 sec. So if 2 sec mean that much to you, get a GTR, if not, then both offer reverse. Both are built by great companies and although I don't have a GTR, both have great customer service. If you hunt thick mud and such, the GTR will give you a deeper reach than the PD. On my lease, with all the grass and vegitation, I run circles around GTR's due to FPR. The GTRs will eventually get out, but there is no substitute for FPR when your in a bind. They both offer a briggs engine that no matter how or when, the case gasket will start leaking. PD offers an EFI kit, the other (from what I have read) can have the kit installed on. The reason I say all of this is the fact that you mentioned fishing first. So in fishing first, the reverse is really not as important as in my situation where I need it constantly where I hunt. Both are great motors, both can be modded to fit your needs, and both build great boats with lots of features. Remember, its an aluminum boat, anything that is nopt on it from the get go, can always be welded on or added later. Good luck in your purchase.

Hey dumbass show me exactly where I'm bias toward PD in my post. I said the GTR is instant and the PD takes less than 2 sec to spin around. So please enlighten me.
Oh another thing, slow as 80 yr olds huh. You want to race MINE, bet you don't.

That should be an easy race, you won't finish. From what I've seen, you'll just blow another one up.
