Post North Ms guys
I'm looking for a go devil prop tool or a homemade version of one. I don't possess the tools and equipment necessary to fab one up right now. Willing to drive anywhere as far south as Jackson, and as far west as Greenville. I'm in oxford, so if your within a couple hours or so of there and have one let me know.. I will remove prop while I'm there so
I'm not asking to take it anywhere. Just need it for about 5-10 Minutes. I know I can rent one from GD, but I figured I would check with you fine folks before I went that route

Thanks- Barrett

Haha I could make the shape out of iPhone symbols but that wouldn't give you too good of an idea.. I searched google late last night and found a thread from 2011 that had a pic of one one somebody had made. For the life of me though, I can't remember what I typed in to find it. Lemme try to find a pic of one and I'll send it to you. Thanks a lot Blake I really appreciate it

4' piece of flat bar will work.

punch a hole in it about 5 inches up the flat bar for the shaft to fit through.

I think mine is 1/4" or 3/8" thick x 2" wide x 4' long.

Should have let me know Barrett and I would have built you one. I throw pieces of flat bar like that away all the time!

Drill a 3/4" hole in a 2x4. Slide it on the end of the shaft between the blades of the prop.

So I tried the 2x4 method with no luck, tried heat, tried pb blaster, even tried begging it to come off.. Nothing.. I change props out once every 4 or five months and have NEVER had any issues getting the prop off. I have always used anti-seize and performed regular maintenance about twice as often as necessary. This time it wasn't budging though. I don't reccomend doing what I did, but if your real careful it's a sure fire way to get a prop off every time haha.

Necessary tools: 4 inch 120 volt grinder, pb blaster, approximately 15 beers

The trick is to open up the prop to where the threads are exposed, it is important that you grind each hole on the opposite side of the other. DO NOT grind all the way through, grind down to 4-5 millimeters then take a chisel and hammer away the material that is left (not doing this will result in some majorly fucked up threads). once the threads are exposed, soak that shit in pb blaster. Approximately 4 or 5 beers later, attach a large crescent wrench to the top nut and slide a tire tool between the blades of the prop. This is where you proceed to giving the prop almighty hell (it is perfectly normal to make animal noises and see spots throughout this step) I mean you gotta wrench that mother for all it's worth, eventually it will break free due to the void in the threads

Here are some pics. Like I said, this shouldn't be option A for anyone, but if your in a time crunch like I was, this will work.
