1648 War Eagle. Short transom. Modified V just like every other War Eagle. I run the SS version of the SWOMP.

 Re: Backwaterinc.com - you're welcome.
Big props to Backwater (no pun intended) and especially Jake. Bought a Swomp 23 lite model late last year and someone in the shop forgot to include the mounting bracket. No big deal. Jake drove god knows how many miles to a post office and paid a couple hundred bucks to have it overnighted to my duck hunting camp. USPS screwed up and it didn't make it so he and I were both pissed and he said that he owed me one. Fast forward a few days and the versamount bracket comes in, which is an awesome setup by the way, and I mount everything up and take my rig down to the river to test it out. Fast forward past a few hours of awesomeness, jumping beaver dams, driving over dry land, jumping logs, etc. and the boat ends up sinking on me. Was just having too much fun I guess...I call up Jake and ask what to do with the motor assuming I'd be able to find it eventually and he gives me all the details and says if I pull it up and can't get it running he'd sell me a new engine for a very very good price. I ended up losing it all gun, boat, motor, etc. and am now already missing the whistling wings and you can bet your a** I'll be calling up Jake when I've got the coin together for a new SWOMP! Word to the wise, come to a stop slllloooowwwlllllyyyy. Sometimes it's hard when you hit something solid so beware of the backwash.

Glad you're okay man. Those 23 LITES are pretty sweet and I think they're a great option for a lot of people.

 Re: Backwaterinc.com - you're welcome.
For anyone looking at a package from Backwater, please don't make the same mistake I did. I bought a boat and motor from Backwater about a year ago, and picked up a used trailer off of craigslist, rather than just buying one from them because I thought I'd save a few bucks. This is where I went wrong! If I had it to do over again, I'd have bought their custom trailer with the package and be done with it. Instead, my POS craigslist trailer, is actually costing me significantly more time and money in the long run than just buying their trailer that's designed for my boat and the places I go. Long story short, In a years time I have replaced everything but the steel frame and the safety chains on my god forsaken trailer. Both tires separated and lost their tread. I lost a seal and a bearing (supposedly new ) and spun the race. The winch handle broke off within the first week, but not before the rope broke and slapped me in the forehead. Both, the jack handle and a round light lens disappeared between the seller's place and mine and apparently they were some rare type, so I had to buy an entire new set. Wires are brittle and seem to be less than reliable after I've had a beer or two in the boat and then head home in the dark... I stripped and painted the trailer- more time and money. I made wood bunks and carpeted them to replace the rollers. I called Jake to see if he had any advice on locating an odd size axle and fenders since they are only a little over an hour away. He offered to sell me some leftover odd stuff they had around the shop that could fit my frame. While picking it up I told him I wished I had just bought their trailer and been done with it. He laughed and said its surprising how often he hears it. I spent some time closely looking at and comparing their trailers while there, and now I'm once again kicking myself even more and seeing more attention to details They have taken the time to make their trailers better for bowfishing and duck hunting spots and I was too busy nickel and diming on a trailer to notice and listen to their advice. Their lights are almost up breakable the way they're mounted, the axle holds the boat low so that you can launch in low water without a landing plus it's easier to load and unload the boat. Their hardware is a lot nicer than what Ive been getting at Northern tool. I almost wish someone would steal my trailer from the landing so it would force me to get what I should have in the first place, not to mention they look a lot sharper than what I've got.

Live and learn. Jake tried to talk me into the 35 my first go around. I remember telling him, "Nah, I'm good". Lol. A year later and I was stroking a check for a big block.

 Re: Backwaterinc.com - you're welcome.
I have spoke with jake a few months ago trying to get my new to me war eagle 1648 set up. The previous owner had just purchased a 27 backwater motor for it and never really got to play around with it. But i'm having issues getting it to plane and the motor itself is fighting me.. it will ride just fine and smooth then suddenly drastically dig down into the water or try to pop out of the water.. I'm a newbie to all this. I didnt get to take the boat out hardly any this season due to purchasing my first home but plan on getting it out this weekend and trying to get this issue fixed if possible.
Would doing any modifications to my boat be beneficial? Moving weight up front.. adding pods? I'm open to any suggestions.
