Lower unit in relation to bottom of the boat?
I have a buddy of mine that persists on cutting his 16" transom down so his 25 hp gt lower unit will be flush with the very bottom of his boat. I keep telling him its a horrible idea for more than a few reasons.
Whats the actual distance between the bottom of the boat and the bottom of the lower unit for a 16" transom?

I would agree with you. Better chance of plowing water and hitting it on something and breaking it. Leave it alone.
