Seen the the same results on two 18/54 console hulls...FYI.

For comparison, the old gen2 18/54 would run 27empty, and hold 24 with 3 people! Stock non EFI.

Well fuck that makes me rethink wanting to switch to PD. Lol
I get 23 with 4 average dudes in my 1848 GDSD stock.

What did a stock Gen 2 run on a 17x54 x series light? I am currently running a Gen 3 stock 17/54 x series and getting 26 mph around 4350 rpm with the new 2 blade. Just curious what the Gen 2 foot did on this set up.

The 1756 phowler I had did around 28 stock. The the gen 3 I have now is on a heavy 1854 Uncle J 3/16 bottom and before my prop was worn down I was getting 27 mph at 4400 rpm's with the 3 blade.

Post Re: ProDrive 2-Blade Gen 3 Prop
The problem with all prodrive props is that the leading edge is to blunt/ thick. Not that u want it to be sharp as a knife just about half as thick as it come from the factory and you will see a difference , all you need is a tiger wheel on a grinder and patients. There is also a certain sound you want your engine to make when planing the boat. Basically when u go from idle to full throttle , you want to hear your engine lug a bit then you want it to increase in rpm to almost wide open( cavitate) then you should see your RPM's drop as the prop start to bite, then the rpm should start to increase gradually as you get to top speed. So with that being said if your motor sound the same from idle to top speed like there is no change In rpm then your slipping to much and need more cup in the prop. If your motor sounds as described but is on the revlimiter you need more pitch. How you test for pitch, going full throttle trim your motor up till you see no increase in speed if u hit revlimiter and still increasing in speed u need more pitch if your speed starts to drop maybe .5 mph before u hit revlimiter your good and you want to be at 4600 RPM's in calm water trimmed out full throttle. Give yourself a little room to trim up for running thicker grass and such or if your running choppy water so your not killing the engine and honestly as people have stated there isn't much power that high in RPM's . Hope this helps seems to me y'all need some prop work, I know mine was junk and I hated my motor for 6 months and pro- drive just trying to make money like the next guy. These props don't have the amount of precision they deserve and that honestly we are paying for .

Look I'm not saying grind half the prop off just about a 1/32 off the back of the leading edge, oh and do you think these props come balanced?lol!!! ,, they don't , cause if they where mine won't have been a piece of shit like everyone else's. But that's just my 2 cents and anyone that has a gen 3 please spend the $100 on the best upgrade money can buy and get your prop done. It is after all the prop that pushes the boat.

They are far from balanced from manufactor. They do old school bubble balance type balancing which will ballpark it. So far two I have balance were 6.7 grams and 8.6 grams out

Well, fuc . Now I guess I know why these prop guys are so popular. Might as well optimize my pitch while I assure they a balanced well. It May save some seal/bearing work down the road.

On my rig, new stock prop gave me about 1-1.5 mph more speed over the new stock prop that came with the motor.

That's prolly about when I learned how much these props differ from one to the next.

id be willing to be none of these prop guys have electronic balancing machines like in the picture. the one i have is at work used to balance impellers and turbine/blower wheels.
i believe after this was posted gatortail saw it and is taking intrest in getting a machine after learning how unbalanced there "balanced" props were. it would be a huge improvement on there product

I mean honestly it looks like they popped it out the cast sprayed it black and slapped it on. WTF!! Can we at least get what we are paying for? Ok so here's your brand new $20,000 + Rig and the prop is junk. I personally think that if pro-drive doesn't want to produce a propeller that proforms like it should!, then put a hex shaft like everyone else and give use the option to put what we want and honestly the hex shaft design is stronger than the spline shaft! My prop is already starting to get hard to pull off because the splines are becoming misaligned from hitting stumps. Not to mention that this is my second shaft. Oh and I have the straight spline not the tapered. Oh and I'm not the most gentle person are even close to that. People say crawfishermen are rough. I don't think they could possibly understand the conditions I run my boat in! Which is the reason I bought a prodrive. After seeing my bro- Inlaw gen2 take it like a champ I had to have one!

Post Re: ProDrive 2-Blade Gen 3 Prop
Just putting in my info to help out others here. I have a 2014 prodigy pro deck 1854. 13 gallon tank. 2014 prodrive E2 kit from the factory. Speeds when everything was brand new and solo in the boat. 26 mph. Put 3 guys, dog, grear and blind 22 mph at 4500rpm. Hunted 65 days this season and it was doing 22 still at the end. I sent my prop after duck season to Hopkins to ad pitch and cup. 2" pitch and 2" of cup. Now with the load I'm getting 25. And completely empty I'm getting 25 both at 4000 rpm. Been beating my head against the wall here trying to figure it all out. Prodrive won't have a 2 blade for my motor for a couple week because kp said he doesn't have any for the straight shafts. Just found out they went tapered in November. I'll post speeds once I recieve my new prop. Also a heads up. Hopkins has been testing 2 blade and 4 blade props on a prodrive. Supposed to b out by duck season but we'll see.

Yeah zeek he told me he had somebody testing it out for him but it seems like quite th process to get the casting and mold before he can sell them. I wish I could test for him but I'm out here in Cali. Sounded like its gonna be good. I'll be getting one of those as soon as he says he has them.

Yea it is if you do it right so you don't end up like Prodrive. I ran it for a while and liked it then he went run it on a big boat and he said he was satisfied

As long as you don't have head work you should be fine. I was turning it at 4600 rpms on my stock motor . If you do decide to do head work you will have to add 2 inchs of pitch

Is PD still testing the E5 or can you get an upgrade now, and what's the cost to go from an E2 to an E5?
