GDSD
Alright guys looking at buying my first MM this week. It's a 2008 GDSD 65hrs on it. Also has a mods on it. Carb Kit, Exhaust, Electronic Rev Limiter, Cam, Bigger push rods, Gear reduction on Belt & 3 props to go with. Now the question is how much would you give for the motor cuz I don't want to get screwed, also does anybody have one of these motors? There likes, dislikes & review on the motor period.. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Re: GDSD
Don't know anything about the mods or how it should be priced. I've had my first gdsd for a little over a month now. Had it out 5 times. I love the way the trim works. Set it an forget it. The trim tabs keep it where it needs to be. Neutral would be nice to have. Has some excessive tiller torque at certain times depending on the load and in heavy veggies I almost have to lean my hip against it. I've driven mud buddy's HD before and this motor is a lot different. Kind of like a hybrid between a longtail and surface drive in the way you operate it. Lovin it so far though.

Re: GDSD
Thanks for your input man. Also seen I forgot to mention it's a 23hp GDSD.. What sizes motor do you have flint87? What size boat do you have it on? What speeds are you seeing? Just trying to get an idea of what mine would get. I'm gonna see if the guy will let me put the motor on my boat & test it before I buy.

Re: GDSD
Sounds like it! Ya the boat Im putting that 23 on is only 1648. So I'm thinking it should get decent speed out of it. Especially since has those mods. Will see tho!

Re: GDSD
You'll enjoy the GD for your first mm, I love the trim, grab the throttle and don't worry about.. I also love the fact I can do a complete circle in my boat to turn around in very tight canals or wherever. Find you a good dealer or if you know what you're doin when it comes time to check the belt and grease the inside of the housing. It's all in the manual that you can download on GD website. Wear that kill switch! And Like the post above it can have bad tiller torque but if u setup the weight in the boat right you can let go of the handle and it'll drive plenty straight! Have fun

Re: GDSD
If it's trimmed right and the skeg is adjusted right, that thing should have damn near zero pull in any direction on the tiller. You'll enjoy it. Don't let not having the bells and whistles steer you or anyone away from the GoDevil. It doesn't need hydraulic trim and I've not found a situation yet that I couldnt do what I needed to without reverse or a clutch. They're tough as nails. Enjoy it! Where are you located? Feel free to PM me.

Re: GDSD
Also, as far as pricing on that thing. A brand new 23hp GDSD is something like $4,2XX. So Id say if it's in good shape with those extras and that few hours it would be a good buy for anything under $4000. 65hrs is break-in time lol.
