Post Briggs starter solenoid
I just got done putting my motor back together and have hit a problem.

It had sat for several months before I replace the case gasket. All of that went fine but when i went to start it I got nothing. I could turn it over by jumping the solenoid fine. Checked the wire from key switch to solenoid and I was not getting 12V when I turned it over. Jumped the red and orange wires on the connector to the key switch and it turned over. Figured not big deal and bought a new key switch.

New switch same issue, jump the red and orange wires within the connector to the key switch and it turns over. Use the switch and I get no voltage to the solenoid when i turn to start.
I do hear a slight tick which I think is the anti afterfire solenoid.

When I let off the key and it goes to run I see where the voltage jumps for a second to the solenoid but nothing happens.

Any ideas???
I don't think the safety switch would keep things from turning over if it was bad.
Thanks

If it's a GoDevil the first thing I would suspect is you aren't pushing the tiller handle down far enough to activate the mercury switch. Is the mercury switch in the horizontal position with the wires pointing forward?

That is the trigger wire for the solenoid. Check the voltage coming straight out of the switch, then check at the plug where they meet near the starter. "Gameover" found his plug to be the culprit of voltage loss and wired the connection outside of the plug. If that checks out I suggest you wire in a relay that will trigger the solenoid and they yellow wire will trigger the relay. Start simple.

Check your PTO switch. I had a similar issue. I had voltage on the starter wire out of the key switch, but not at the starter. The key switch starter wire goes through the PTO normally closed contacts before going to the starter so you can't start the motor if the PTO is engaged. I replaced my PTO switch and all is good. Good luck!
