Post 37 EFI
I ran my boat on Friday and while running you could feel the motor sputtering. Acting as if to have bad fuel. I dumped fuel, ran again and it was fine. Saturday, I ran out in the morning after the hunt while picking up decoys (idling) my motor did not want to stay running, I would put it in gear and it would kill. Finally, I drained out the fuel from fuel filter then repumped the ball and it eventually got up and would let me Run full throttle. I ran again Saturday evening with no problems. This morning, I ran out to the spot and when I killed my motor to throw out decoys it would not start again. I tried bypassing the fuel pump and it didn't work. I finally pumped fuel into engine by bypassing fuel pump then hooked it back up and if finally let me get up and run. I can hear the fuel pump kick on when I put the key on but could it still not be working properly? Motor has 35 hours and recently. Having these problems. Sorry for he long post, anyone had these issues?

If the motor only has 35 hours it is still under warranty.

Bring it to GatorTail asap so they can resolve the issue and get you back on the water.

First thing I would look at is all your fuel line connections. Get rid of any quick disconnects and tighten the hell out of your hose clamps. Also, if you have a portable tank, gut the internals on the fuel cap vent so it can breathe in and out instead of just in.

I chased a fuel delivery problem on my Subaru 25 like that and it wasn't the motor, it was the connections and the new EPA compliant fuel cap.

I am using the same portable tanks from my carbed gtr (5 years old) Wuth quick connects... Does this still apply? Do the quick connects not work properly with the efi engines?

My 37(I think all) will loose power with the slightest air leak in the fuel system. I do run quick disconnects which doesn't seem to affect my performance but if it catches air anywhere I loose all power on the top end. I have kept a bulb on the fuel line just in case the fuel system starts catching air and I don't have time to find the issue. I'll just keep pumping while running.

These motors use low PSI fuel systems (1-2PSI) whether its EFI or Carbed. Any air in the fuel delivery system can cause the problems you describe. Common sources of air in the system are quick disconnects, primer bulbs, fuel tank pick-up tubes, loose connections. Air bubbles in the fuel filter are an indication of air in the fuel delivery system. If you have an electric fuel pump, I would ditch the primer bulb and get rid of your disconnects and see if the problem clears.
