 Surface drive Motor for trapping Hi everyone looking for some opinions on a surface drive mud motor. I've got a 17' mod v I trap in a couple rivers and a lake around here. Trap mostly beaver so weight can add up in a hurry. What would you guys recommend I get? Thanks

Re: Surface drive Motor for trapping I don't have any personal experience, but most of the "experts" will say your not going to get the performance you're looking for by putting a surface drive on a mod-v hull. The bottom contour will create an adverse wake behind the boat for a surface drive to push it efficiently.
Hopefully one of the more experienced mudders here will chime in.

Re: Surface drive Motor for trapping I have hauled many a beaver and coon with my GDSD rig. As mentioned with my setup its no trouble because I have a surface drive boat and motor. I trap the Ohio and Wabash here in So Indiana.
