 Re: Prodigy Boats
I don't know who built the boat. However, where that cross member is welded to the bottom of the boat it is going to hook. That aluminum flexes inside the stringers and whenever it comes to a sharp angle like that it hooks in front of the cross brace. That's why the majority of the boats that I have seen hook at the transom. There really isn't a whole lot you can do about that other than shortening the distance between the stringers. you can lower the cross braces inside the boat if you leave about a quarter inch clearance from the bottom of the cross Brace to the bottom of the boat

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I think that "lifetime" warranty is about like their "coast guard certification" most likely. Is it warrantied against hooking and bottom distortion since changing over to the hat channel? I'd be surprised if it was.

A boat is only going to hook and dent because the driver runs the fuck over something. No boat builders are going to warranty you driving the fuck over something.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
Then what is the warranty for? And how is it different than any other manufacturer's warranty? Just asking because I don't know.
Just laying a blanket statement like "lifetime warranty on the hull" is misleading at best.
I think GT hulls are serviceable boats. They are not bad products. But I don't think they're light years ahead of anybody in any capacity.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I guess I just don't understand how their badass lifetime warranty is any better than anyone else's. I'm sure any boat manufacturer worth their salt would fix a broken weld or damage if it was determined it wasn't caused by abuse, negligence, and if it was within a reasonable time frame. Say if I bought a boat with a lifetime warranty, do you think if I had a couple busted welds in the rake from running choppy water for 10-15yrs they would repair it no questions asked? I don't think that would be considered outside of what the boat was designed for, unless that "shallow water" exemption BS would hang you up.... Like I said, I just fail to see why them offering a lifetime warranty is earth shattering. What does it ACTUALLY cover? Is it transferable? If not, if their boat is warrantied to be so tough, why would it matter who owns and operates it at a particular time?

Or the Coolaid brigade that pimps their products could just pipe up and fill in the blank like they feel compelled to do everywhere else.... I was simply making an observation and asking a question that I felt someone here might be able to answer since we were already on the topic and it was brought up..... Let me know if I need to slow down, or if you need a fresh crayon.
Oh, and U, is actually three whole letters. I'll let Y-O-U figure out which three.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
Boats that are overloaded in the front will hook where the longitudinal braces start

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I agree with all of that Craig But if we're talking about most any production mud hull, don't you think that it would have enough bracing to be sustantual enough to resist hooking or distortion from hitting waves or running thru chop? I've never seen a "mud hull" that was not built to withstand a little rough water.
I do appreciate you trying to have a conversation without throwing smartassed responses around.

I am convinced that Louisiana roads have Hooked more boats than any lake in North Texas or Arkansas combined

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I just don't get how you can trust a lifetime warranty from a company that claims to be the only ones using the 37efi. As of a week ago, they were still claiming that on their site. That's just confirmation they'll tell you whatever to sell you something. Since its up to them whether or not you abused the boat beyond their warranty coverage, their lifetime warranty isn't a strong selling point over any others.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I'd trust gator tail warranty a hell of a lot more than mb or gd.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
That's you. I personally feel like making a claim when it's obviously false and sticking by it damages your credibility. Mb and gd have both always stuck by the 4 warranty claims I've had to make in the past. GT gave me a difficult time with parts I needed to fix a jacked up project frame when it supposedly only had 4 hours on the rebuilt lower and I was willing to pay for parts. So, I say again, not a chance their "lifetime hull warranty" would tip the scales if it were that close of a decision.
