My boat does what Paul is talking about running 28-29 mph.....but only in slick glass conditions. Back end will sway left/right enough to notice and make you think there's slack in the steering. Give my hull the slightest of ripples and it runs a straight line.... Actually, my rig prefers a slight chop.

very good question!!! They run differently then a prop drive, air boats run almost flat so very little air gets under the boat. They also turn differently, they turn pretty flat because of the way a fan pushes verse a prop under water. That is why I mentioned that the more you can keep the nose of a flat boat down on the water the faster it can run safety. You also have alot more weight at the rear of the boat with any large air fan that helps keep the rear end down.

I was always taught a boat runs faster with a light chop do to reducing suction/surface tension

Surface tension is one of the variables as it relates to speed, not instability. Skiffs are generally narrower and look at the nose on a skiff, it does not send as much air under the boat as a flat nose. Again, I tried to give you guys the simplified version of the engineering, there are alot more variables that go into any hull design and how it behaves on the water at various speeds.

But hey what do I know, I only design, engineer, test and build boats for a living everyday

I want a vented mud hull. Uncle J, are you up for it? Prolly need one of those new HDR 9900BD's to get it on pad though.

I'm thinking this as inspiration

Yes, we can go with a quadruple taper padded bottom with a tunnel. With the right amount of power, it should look like the photo you've attached

Rob_E, sounds to me like your buddy is a duck.

30 thousand fucking dollars. 30 thousand dollars for a single engine rig. 30 thousand dollars for a single engine mud rig that wasn't what he ordered when he went to pick it up and still left with the boat. And then spent considerable money to un-fuck it.

Fuck exhausting resources, I would have 30K worth of foot in Mr. Crochet's ass if I were him.

P.S. I'm still trying to figure out a way to word it where "30 thousand dollars" belongs in the same sentence as "single engine mud rig."

Is it strapon or strap-on? Or is it two separate words, I.E. strap on? Whatever it is, it definitely entered Rob's amigo.

Duckwater boats has the angled pad under them to. But their boats are for outboards. Not sure why?

I know a lot of you guys don't like hes design but Corey built me a hell of a boat. (can't speak for the others). The nose went through the bottom of a alumitech airboat with poly (UHMW) moving about 35 mph, sending Gfowl through the air like a bird and me into the console the flying out the side. The damage to the nose was it for the boat. (Not so much for me, lot of damage lol) The boat is bulit like a tank and thats what I was looking for. I have smaller, lighter, faster boats.

Went by the Brother Breaux shop last April. They had a BIG boat they were building at the time. They build an impressive hull. Waterfowlfool has one.
