Post I guess September isn't my month
I woke up on the 3rd to find my lady had passed in her sleep, and she was always out with me fishing and clamming.
Finally today was the day that I was going to try and both launch and retrieve my boat solo. I'm 69 and combat disabled. Tomorrow is the end of Fluke season so it was today, in addition as per an agreement with Fran a bit of her ashes would go into her favorite fishing spot. So I pull out the driveway and get about 20 feet and all hell breaks loose. My trailer springs shattered and the complete axle and both wheels leave the trailer and the trailer drops onto the street. A good thing a fellow club member was off today and after 4 hours we got it back in the driveway. Thought I ran over a mine again!
I thought after today's run I would both start on the floor foam removal and then the Kawasaki engine swap on my PD over the winter. The trailer is a 20' Sureride I got from GD in 97 along with the 1856. So questions on the engine swap will have to wait a bit.

Sounds like a rough patch that will be cleared up as soon as you can get back to the water. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss but it seems like better times are on the way. Definitely reach out and see if there are any members that are close enough to lend a hand and maybe a strong back.

Sorry for your loss....where ya located? If you're within driving distance of Sheepshead Bay....I can get you on a half day party boat trip.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your lady. She is now with the best fisherman, or I might say, a fisher of men.
Thanks for your service.
Do you have your 'Remy' pup yet? Dogs seem to help us through these times, especially pups.
Your trailer predicament forced me to go inspect my old, pre-1993, formerly painted/now rusty, steel trailer that always gets driven on salted roads, because that's when the duck huntin' gets good around here, and most hunters stay in bed.
