 GT Extreme or Prodigy Hull
Hi guys, I am looking to pull the trigger on a new mud rig here in the next couple months. It will have a GTR37 hung on it, that has been decided. I am trying to decide on a hull now. I have talked to a few people in person about the Prodigy and GT hulls. One guy has a Prodigy with a MB and is selling the MB to go back to a GTR and one guy has a GTR/GT Extreme setup and wants to sell his hull to get a Prodigy to go with his current GTR. Part of me thinks that going with GT everything is the way to go because they build the motor and boat and they should in theory work best with each other. Do the Prodigy boats match up to the GTR motors well? The size im thinking I will go with will be either a 1648 or a 1748. I can get either the GT Extreme or Prodigy Elite in those sizes. I like the way that Prodigy will custom build the hulls a little more than GT will as far as storage and options. At least from comparing websites. I just dont want to buy a motor and a hull that dont work well together.

Re: GT Extreme or Prodigy Hull
Both boats have the correct rake and angle on the transom for mud motors regardless of brand. I know what I would go with, but that is a personal preference.

Prodigy is a custom builder and will build the boat to match whatever motor you want so it will run just as good on either hull. I would go atleast 17ft though on a 37..Maybe even 18ft... Even though the 16ft is smaller and lighter, a longer hull will perform much better.

I'd go prodigy over GT. But just my preference.

Re: GT Extreme or Prodigy Hull
I think the Gatortail boats also have square chines. Which i'm not fan of for a mud motor. My last two rigs have had square chines with mm and they don't turn as good at higher speeds as a round or triple taper chine, I promise you that. I've ran my older boats up on some serious shit because I couldn't get it to bite going into a turn regardless of what I tried. I ran out of river and time and had to launch the bitch into the brush!

Re: GT Extreme or Prodigy Hull
Thanks for the replys. It seems on here and from talking to people in person that a Prodigy/GTR setup is pretty much the way to go. Im waiting on Prodigy to get me a quote on a boat and Ill probably be pulling the trigger here in a couple weeks.

Re: GT Extreme or Prodigy Hull
I don't have the extreme hull I just have the GTB 1848 and it's been great. Bought it new in 2014 and it's held up to the abuse. The bottom is pretty bad dented up but as far as I can tell it hasn't affected performance at all. I may go with a 3/16 bottom on my next hull though.
