 Prodrive rev limiter
Does anyone else make a rev limiter other than BPS? Mine was mounted the the motor when i bought it and it sounds like there's a 100 loose pieces bouncing around inside. Pretty sure its junk. I have a 2010 non cdi motor.

 Re: Prodrive rev limiter
In all honesty.. I don't run them. One more thing to fail.

 Re: Prodrive rev limiter
The trick is to mount them in a place where it won't be vibrated to death. The motor is imo the absolute worst place to mount them. I agree with possibly running without one but, some people can't handle a motor without one. 100% chance of uncorking motor.
Not sure how your boat is laid out, but find a spot out of the way and mount the new one on a piece of rubber sheet to tame the vibration. You'll likely NEVER have another issue. I've got mine mounted to the half box under the catwalk. Easy access, but keeps it somewhat dry and never gets trashed from people, dogs flopping fish, etc.

 Re: Prodrive rev limiter
Haven't really tried to rev it to see if it works. Its the 5000-5200 box from bps. To me thats a lot to wing a motor with no load on it. Motor has a lot of upgrades. I was doing some searching and saw a few pictures of some rev boxes that people were running on v twins with autometer on them. Called them but they said they don't make one. I know its a good safety if you hit something but i just think $180 for a bps one is a little pricey.

 Re: Prodrive rev limiter
Some motors can turn that loaded if built properly.
