Post Motor Update
Well after 6 years of abuse my motor finally died on me. It was actually running but nobody knows how

I had a total of around 300 hours stock then another oh maybe 600 hours on the mods... Looks like the block finally just wore out and everything went bye bye inside. That's 4 years of running mods before I started having multiple internal issues.

I have located an upgrade and hopefully will be back on the water in a month.

Hoyt and crew are putting the old girl back together. She'll be leaving with some much needed new paint. Other than the hole in my pocket I can't wait to pick up my spruced up rig.

In glad to hear you got some good hours out of it. I'm picking up my boat tomorrow from GT. Hopefully i get a good 500 hours before any major breakdowns.

My GD is about the same age and hours as yours WEA... But in true GD form
it could not be stopped - really - pull the lanyard or turn off the key - it just
kept right on running.... Having a new set of coils and diodes installed and
picking her up at the dealer in the AM....

Friday play time ! ! !

WEA - what engine oil do you use in your engine? do you use Amsoil grease on LU?
Sounds like you got a lot of hours out of your motor and it would be nice to get the same on mine.

3CK is Correct! It was a Briggs issue.

I'm still going to be running my same output shaft and lower unit.

I have always run Mobil1 Synthetic 5W30. Oil was changed every 15 hours along with the Amsoil lower unit grease. Lower unit grease always topped off after each run /outing.

 You guys are funny when you start in on each other.

I regret never putting a tiny tach on MY Go Devil LT when I bought it back in 1987 - but I'd bet it has 1000's of hours on it and it still runs like a top. I don't have mud and shell bottoms to run in up here but I work it pretty hard a couple months each year in stump and log minefields and I've only replaced the prop ONCE in all those years. I shoulda replaced it years before I actually did though.

Sure, I've had to replace a few things, like a starter and flywheel ring gear from getting sticks shoved in where they shouldn't have gotten and I've gone through a few starter switches but I think when I switch to a sd, I'll stick with a stock motor for reliability because I've read too many horror stories here about modded motors puking.

Mud Buddy must have a reason for only offering a 6 month engine warranty on anything that isn't stock...

 Oh, and I made a brazillion dollars last year.
