 PD 32 Recently got a new phowler 1848 to go with my PD 32. After first time out only got 21 mph out of it( not too happy). Wanting to do some mods but not sure what will be best.

Re: PD 32 You need to make sure your motor is running correctly before you start adding mods. What rpm's are you turning WOT? What kind of shape is your prop in? You should defiantly be getting better speeds

Re: PD 32 My old boat was a 16inch transom the new one is 21 inc, so i bought the shaft extension kit for the motor. And yes ive had the motor for 3 years now i think

Re: PD 32 Have the compression test done, if the cylinders are off or low, have a leakdown to see if your valves are seating well. If not, then get some headwork done to clean it up.

Re: PD 32 So i finaly got the motor to a shop and had to have new head gasket and rocker seals replaced. Now that i got it back it it sounds and runs good only until I open the throttle up. It will only get to about2800 rpms and it sounds like its hitting a governor. If i gradually open the throttle i can get it to about 3800. I dont know what they adjusted on it but it not even close to rpms i was getting ANY IDEAS?

Re: PD 32 At idle pull one plug wire. If it stays running pull the other one if it dies you may need new diodes.

Re: PD 32 Sounds like the mechanic reset your governor to low. Standing on the right side of the boat and motor there wil be a horizontal phillip head screw right over the mufflers exhaust tube leaving the head. Turn it clock wise to increase your rpm's ( out of water 4250) .

Re: PD 32 ya i have had the gov. srew tightend all the way and still the same ol story. Any other ideas Could it be carb problem? is there adjustments for that?

Re: PD 32 Could be as simple as your choke or throttle linkage travel being off. Though the trottle travel wouldn't really fit the hitting the govern. symptons
