Post GTR issue
I few weeks ago I I squeezed my reverse lever to back out of a launch and as soon as it went into reverse my motor caught a extremely bad vibration so bad that I killed the motor quick. when I took the back cover off one of the caliper pads fell out. the rotor had a bad wobble to it and it basically destroyed the whole caliper so I pulled the rotor off and the key way pin looked messed up so I figured that let the rotor lose and cause it to wobble an cause vibration. I just got around to changing the key way today and it still has the same wobble. no idea why and I have a few calls into gator tail the last few days with no return phone call. any ideas ?

Any run out in the shaft with the rotor removed?

You sure you didn't call MB....Gatortail guys are always there to talk to anyone who may call, no matter what else is going on.

Are you sure the planetary sections are together. If the main bolt backed out, could have caused it to come apart, causing gears to not be lined up

have you removed the shaft extension to verify the key is securely in place?

Look at the planetary assembly and rotor with the engine running in neutral. You said it only does it when you engage the reverse, but the planetary and rotor spin constantly. If its not doing it with the engine running in neutral that eliminates those two links. Did one of the Allen head bolts loosen on the ring gear housing to cog gear connection? Is the ring gear mounted flush and evenly on the gear? Look at it running in neutral then lock it in reverse on the trailer and just watch what's happening. How's your belt tension?

it does it in neutral and it's just the last part of the planetary with the caliper on it that's wobbling. my motor never had a shaft extension in it

If you take the caliper off and grab the rotor can you wiggle play into the planetary?

Sounds like planetary is not together correctly. Pull the main bolt. take a peak inside believe its six Allen heads, then reinstall planetary (rotor side) make sure it aligned with key on shaft and the gears are meshed together properly. If this is not done, will cause wobble!

If everything is lined up and tight and there's no slack in anything it seems like its gotta be the planetary gear set itself got fucked up some kinda way.

Make sure the rotor is stirring flush on the planetary and not up on the lip

My output shaft got severely screwed up on my motor one year. I allowed the bolt to back out of the back of the shaft which caused the entire assembly to get loose and warped the crank shaft of the motor. That's what I got for neglecting simple maintenance like making sure the bolts are tight.

That fiasco also started my quest for internal mods

the first thing I checked was the shaft. if you take the back of the planetary off it is not whopped at all. out it back on and that's the bad wobble

It looks like the PTO shaft is bent or the planetary gear is messed up. You could check it by draining the gear oil and pulling the inside part of the gear out that the rotor is attached to. I think you can put the long bolt back in without the inside part of the gear installed. Run it without the inside part of the gear and see if that outer planetary housing spins true. If it does than it is the planetary that is messed up. If it doesn't than the PTO shaft is probably bent. If it is just the planetary you could just run it without the inside gear to get you by while you get a new planetary sent to you. Probably be a good idea to replace the grease seal in the outer planetary housing if you have to get a new internal gear set.
