Post governor lock/block question
Today I got the throttle lined up and put the governor block on that CB sent me. I did as BB told me and I was over 5k at half throttle. I even tried turning the other way with no success. Since my motor is from 2005 does that have anything to do with getting the rpms under control?
Any suggestion's?

Out of the water with no limiter and an aftermarket carb that bypasses the governor, the motor will turn up till it blows up.

You can run an external rev limiter, I believe mud buddy sells them.

the gov block only locks the mechanical gov in place - the rev limiter in the newer engines is built into the coils, you'll need an external rev limiter or just be careful - kaboom

The hockey stick looking shaft is the governor shaft that you are locking in place...so you need to turn it to where the paddle is holding the part of the governor gear that moves outward in the position it is in when the motor is at idle. Hope the pic helps some.

Yes sir! Either that or cut the lower part of the shaft off and remove the gear from the case cover. Just gotta make sure whatever you plug the hole with doesn't come loose and fall in the sump. :P

I always likes to use a bolt, and then put the washer and lock nut outside the block so you could see it.

The old governor arms were crimped on the bottom to where the could only slide up so far u could cut it off rite under the crimped part and cut the top off level with the block and drill and tap the governor rod and just put a flange head in it and cost about 3$

Hell just tap the hole in the block itself.
