 Re: xtreme boats
Not a bad hull, I ve rode in one a couple times and there's not one reason that would make me switch to one.

 Re: xtreme boats
I have an extreme hull and love it. Turns well in tight winding bayous. I can run them wot. But doent quite turn as well as a round chine, but I can still run the same bayous wide open. It handles mudflats extremely well. I think the steps act like keels to help steer in straight mud. My only concern is in about an inch or so of water. It slides just as bad as a square chine. Granted my round chine was like a canoe,38" boat, it could still be turned in an inch or so of water. In that shallow of water with the extreme u need to leave yourself plenty of throttle so u can turn.
But over all I don't think there is a better hull out there.

 Re: xtreme boats
They all have a learning curve when it comes to a slick bottom, you just have to get one and learn how to drive it, then it'll be second nature to you

 Re: xtreme boats
x2......i would check out the 1854, the extra space is nice and the performance difference isnt gonna be significant enough between the 2 to make you want the smaller one.

 Re: xtreme boats
I saw on Gator Tails web site a picture of a 17x52 but when you look on the specs and standard features page they only have them listed for a 54" and 60" widths. Will they still build a 17x52 or any other size?

 Re: xtreme boats
Or just get the boat that they are trying to run against, the original Phowler Series Extreme, the one that turns like a v hull and does not slide in the mud.

 Re: xtreme boats
Remember when u order a 54 inch bottom with the xtreme hull that the bottom won't be 54 inches wide. Prolly be around 48 or in the general area. Maybe someone with a 54 can chime in, but my 1860 only measured around 53 or 54. If u call kyle at gatortail he can give you all the specs. They do turn on a dime. I don't run mud so I can't tell u how they do in it, but as far as river and lake , they are a great boat.

 Re: xtreme boats
I ordered the 1854 xtreme series the bottom measures 52". I think they start with a 54" bottom then once they put the bends in that makes it 52".

 Re: xtreme boats
If i ordered a 54 and it came out to be 52 i'm cool with that. I'm still liking all the post about this boat i'll be running more open water than mud or veggies but don't get it twisted if i want on the other side of something it's either gonna blow or go. Thats my motto and i'm sticking to it. Thanks for all the post guy's some real helpful stuff.
