Post Mudd Buddy Electric Tilt
I have a 2005 HD35 Mudd Buddy motor and the tilt has been giving me problems. I tore it apart and everything looks normal. Needed some grease. I cleaned it up and regreased it. Hooked it up to the motor just to check it. Hit the switch and the shaft rotated. I bolted it back up and nothing but a bunch of clicking. Took it back off and checked it to see if it still was working. I took two welding rods and put them in the bolt hole and hit the switch. It twisted them up. Put 3 rods in and wouldn't bend them. I know its a screw drive but can't figure out how to get the drive itself out. Does anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to MMT. I'm sure you'll get some help eventually, just have to wait on one of the mudbuddy guys to log in. You may also try the search feature, if you haven't already. They've had several different trims on their motors and I'm pretty sure I've seen tear down instructions on more than one of them.

I just had mine all apart and put it back together ill try to help ya out if I can.
First of all is the bolt that holds the bottom of the trim unit loose so it can slide up and down in the track?
Is it a bear or Thomson trim unit?
Pm me if this isn't the problem!

Yes that was my first thought that it had bound up but not the case. It is a bear. Finally got it apart and there was a washer in pieces that fell out. Trying to find one now.

If its the old bear unit I would just replace the whole thing with the Thomson trim untit, Its still not nearly as good as the mercury trim unit but will last longet than the bear will, If I remeber right you can get the whole thing for a littel over $100 bucks

I just changed mine Saturday, it is a Thompson trim, I ordered it for $260 and it comes with all the hardware if your upgrading from a bear to a Thompson.
