 Bad zert?
Do zerts go bad? Greased my HDR shaft a couple of days ago. Let the excess bleed out. Ran some this weekend and then noticed this. Also, does it look like water is mixed with the grease? Will replacing the fitting likely fix this? It feels like it's screwed in tight and the grease seemed to have come out the top.

 Re: Bad zert?
Sometimes the ball will stick down and allow grease out the tip. Did you grease it the proper way by removing the screw in the outdrive casting and removing the nut on the prop end of the shaft? You may have over greased it and had to much pressure in the outdrive tube? If you do that to many times you'll blow the seals out both ends and have a damn mess in the belt box.

I removed the upper screw to vent it but not the prop nut

 Re: Bad zert?
Did you let the motor run while in gear for a bit after greasing with the screw out? It will work out a bit of the grease if you over filled it. Most tend to over fill while greasing, that's why I ask.

 Re: Bad zert?
Bad zert! Cheap easy fix. A zert should not let grease come out of it. Be sure when greasing, wipe off zert and grease gun tip to clean it of foreign material. That could also keep the little ball from sealing off after greasing. Just takes 1 little grain of sand and leaky-leaky.
