Post Godevil on Gatortail or Phowler boats?
I have this in the main forum also. But maybe I'll get more responses here. I have a 35 hp Godevil surface drive on a 1644 Godevil boat right now. I'm looking to get a larger boat with a more open floor plan and was considering Gatortail and Phowler boats as options. Has anyone ran one of these combos to know how well it works-or doesn't work? I'm in MN and the closest dealers for either are several hours away and not likely to have short transom boats there to demo with. So I thought I'd try here first.
Thanks.

I am not running a Godevil, but I am running a 36 PD on a 1748 short transom Phowler. I am pretty happy with it. I am hitting about 28.5 alone and about 26-27 with one other person. I am in Faribault if you ever want to take a look at it.

I have a PD on a 1648 Phowler and love it. It's no speed demon but where we hunt you aren't going to do over 10 mph or you'd wreck on cypress knees and beaver dams.

I just helped a guy mount a 35 GD SD on a 1852 Phowler a few weeks ago and it ran 27-28mph.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think the Phowler will be my choice. Just gotta get time to talk with them again and finalize things. I've got a buddy with a PD on a phowler and it seems like a damn nice boat. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone had experience with GDSD motors on them.

nothin wrong with the boat other then bad hooks which only thing would help the bottom around these parts would have been a thicker bottom

I thought that 6 2x2s would have been enough to deal with a 1/8" bottom but was wrong but thats not their fault

Its got a lot of storage like I wanted and heavy in general so its slow and hooks dont help the speed at all but oh well
