 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
We were there the same weekend they were this year. They only had about ten boats, twenty at the most...

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
i have spoke the the LA and TX GW.... airboats a legal on the lake just not on the WMA (TX Side)... if you are conscious or where you are and not being a nuisance to the public they cannot keep you off the water.
i tell people this all the time... as long as there is no local ordinance (which at Caddo there is not) and it is a public waterway an airboat is just the same as any other boat and it is legal on any public waterway.
I plan to make a bowfishing trip up there and I started checking when I was thinking about making this years run.

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
There was an airboat at Crips the weekend of the run and I have seen a couple others out there too.

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
Like I said there is a state owned one that is around there some. I saw him out there not long ago. Might have been weekend of the run-not for sure tho.
But not saying I am right, just that is what my understanding is.
I believe the way they do it is by a noise restriction. You can't be over a certain db level at a certain distance I think.
I would ck pretty good for I took one out there.
I do know of other lakes where they wrote tickets for folks (who came over from LA ironically) who brought them on lakes where they aren't allowed.
Not trying to be contrary, just want to help you if I can....

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
Very well said Crews. My mother happens to be a Master Naturalist, and my parents are full-time residents of Caddo Lake. I also have many friends that are also full time residents of the lake. I have had concerns expressed to me personally about the "big groups of mud boats tearing across the lake in the summertime". I am fortunate to be able to "run Caddo" very often (and I do), but I am always very aware of the residents perception of the rig I run.
Caddo is my home lake. It is where I hunt, fish, ride, ski, swim, and spend time with my kids.
I chose not to attend the run, but I am glad that those in attendance got to experience a place that is so special to me and my family!

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
Perception being what it is, MMs running around the lake are no different than all the other water craft out there. The large groups is what draws attention. However the locals should be more concerned with the big outboard bass rigs speeding around as well as the jet skies. Those are the dangerous idiots on any body of water. And every body of water is getting the weekend crowds making things hectic. Caddo is no different and its not going away so the locals need to learn to roll with the change. With that being said I prefer running in the out of the way areas anyway and any organized run with just a little planning can keep the boats in less traveled or waters less desireable to the locals thereby drawing less attention.

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
The only problem I had this year is you get some guys that don't show any respect to other boaters. I know on the Saturday run we got left behind and were looking for everyone we were heading back towards crips down the government ditch and some D bag in a mud buddy came flyin down the path and there was probably ten boats idling through there. He never slowed down. I don't think he was with our group but it's fags like that that give us a bad name.

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
i say wood duck boxes or fish structures for bass perch or crappie. For something organized to do out there as way of giving something to the lake and residents.

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
Me and my buddies were trying to help this touring group out that had broke down in the Government ditch and we were tieing up to them when this lady and a guy on a Wave runner came by us on half plane which is actually worse then full plain and shook us all up and really pissed me off, some people have no respect for others especially when trying to help other people out. I was just-ah cussin!

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
kinda figured it was gonna come to this I would like to add that these mudrun events do bring alot of revenue to the community, just look at how much money New Iberia/Loreauville is missing every year since Muddigras is not going on!!! something like 3 to 4 hundred K.... This come out in my hometown local news about Caddo http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/ ... TE=DEFAULT

 Re: NEXT YEAR INVITE ONLY
I am new to the MM scene, but poking around on here I was looking forward to next year's run, to see that lake and learn some tips from some of you guys. I see the potential problem though, kind of like how some lakes have bowfishing restrictions because of noise. It doesn't matter if you are actually hurting anything or not, it's the public perception.
I for one would be in on some kind of project to do out there if it would keep the lake available,I just can't think of anything.
