 36PD prop taper bushing
Anyone know where I can get a replacement. I bought a new prop but can't get the bushing out of the old one (It's almost flush with the prop)
Any help would be great

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
I don't know where else to get one. Are you close to the shop? If you were hoping to get one by this weekend, I would assume you are. There's usually someone there on sat morning.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
you can get da old bushing out by heating around it with a torch. Slam it down on sumthin hard and da bushin will usually pop right out, but it's more than likely not any good to re-use if it's crammed in da prop that bad.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
Why are you trying to get the bushing out of the new prop? did you mean old prop?
X2 on stump.. they come out, just not easy.. I think you can tap out from the other side t0o...
If you bought a new one from pd, they usually include the bushing I think. Ck your box again...
good luck!

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
Where you from? If you new folks would put in your sig line where your from it would help the rest of us point you in the right direction. Can you get on it with a pair of channel locks. Squeeze it together and it will pull out. You always put the bushing on the shaft first and then the prop. Or you get a stuck bushing/prop.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
I've had luck removed stuck bushings with 2 screw drivers, Put the prop in a vise or find some way to keep the prop from spinning. insert the biggest/widest flat head screw driver (or strong chisel) into the bushings slot horizontally (resting on the opposite side the bushing) take care not to damage it to much. Take the second screw drive and stick it staight down into the bushing / prop ( The second screw driver is there for the first screw driver to pry against) Now twist the first screw driver thats in the slot until it hits the second screw drivers shaft then put out holding the second one as straight as possible . it should spin on out. then just clean up the inside knocking off any burs with a small file.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
Thanks the replies guys.
I'm in bossier city, la and yes that was a typo I meant I can't get it out of the old prop.
I tried using channel locks but it's so flush on the prop I can't get ahold of it. I'll try the other suggestions though

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
I've done the same thing as bayou boy, but chances are if it's worked it's way all da way into da prop it's been smashed to da point where dey ain't no opening left in da slot.
When you do find another bushing, use plently of marine never sieze on the shaft, slide the bushing on first and put more never sieze on it especially on the end that slides into the prop, then never sieze the prop taper and shaft threads and put ur new prop on hand tight.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
regular never sieze will work, but marine grade will old up longer. I doubt you'll find it at Wal-Mart, but some automotive or hardware stores will carry it.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
The marine grade never seize would be better to use. I looked around for that shit everywhere and in my area and its hard to find. I ened up buying a larger bottle online.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
No problem. They may not want to warranty it but everyone I know has done it multiple times including myself. Never heard of any issues. Holla is you want to go ride some time.

 Re: 36PD prop taper bushing
It's not recommended, but you can re-use an old bushing as long as it's in decent shape. At least until you get another one...
