Post Boat modding
My boat didnt come out EXACTLY how I wanted, but I said Id give it a shot, Ive decided its not what I want for everything I do. Is it possible/feesable to cut the sides off and replace them, or would I be better just getting a whole new boat? I know a lot of skiffs starts as 4 pieces (floor, 2 sides, and transom) so I dont think it would be too big of a deal, but figgured some of you may know better.

It is possiblee but hardest thing is making a straigt cut for the new sides and transom to line up to.
Also you will create A LOT of heat in the process of cutting the sides and transom off then creating even more heat when the new stuff is welded on.

You will mostly only effect the sides of the bottom piece not it will still lose a lot of the strength plus a one piece hull is a lot stronger then a pieced together hull. Not saying they aren't strong, just not as strong as one piece of aluminum bent to specs.

Aluminum is a lot more finiky than any other metal. Once you start messing with it with heat or putting pressure on it it starts losing strenght quick!

Can it be done though? Yes if you got someone who knows what they are doing, but even then might cost you more than just getting another boat.

That's just my opinion.

Can you cut the sides and leave 2-3 inches remaining above the chine, then reweld the new sides on using a lap joint?
