 Stern Lights
What kind of lights do you guys have on your stern. I don't want to put a pole light.
Does it really matter what kind of lights you have?

 Re: Stern Lights
The rear light has to be taller than anything else on the boat (ie the motor) and can be seen from 360* to be legal. Will you get a ticket, maybe maybe not but why chance it.

 Re: Stern Lights
Gonna have to get you a pole unless you take it back and get a poling platform.

 Re: Stern Lights
If you decide to use the pole light on the back, cut the pole in 2 and slide a piece of hose over it. That way it flexes when running through the trees and brush.

 Re: Stern Lights
If anything, I may do like WestEnd. I hate light poles.
On my old boat, I had some LED strips on the back of the boat. Worked well and never had any issues with the Wardens.

 Re: Stern Lights
The problem with mounting on top of the motor is depending on motor trim it might not be visible from 360 degrees. The law is the same across the 50 states. It all falls back to Coast Guard Navigation Rules.

 Re: Stern Lights
Close enough to 360 degrees. I hated fighting with that pole light and my blind. Don't have to worry about anything but flipping the switch now.

 Re: Stern Lights
Well I'm just going to mount an LED light on the top of my motor. Easy enough.
