 1436 newbie questions.
Hey fellas, have some newbie questions for you.
I have a 1436 I'm looking to slap a mud motor on before next fall. Right now, I'm leaning towards a mudbuddy hd lite. I've seen a few people post up 1436s with 23s on them and it has me wondering, is there anything they are doing to these boats? i.e. extra transom support, pods, etc. Just seems like a lot of power for a little boat. I was figuring on going the 18hp route, but could I handle the 23? Also, anyone running a similar combo (either 18 or 23) that could post some speeds up? Thanks
Derek

 Re: 1436 newbie questions.
Don't know for sure what his speeds are...
But I run 25 to 27 mph with my Weldbilt 17x42 and 27 GDSD and could only barely gain on him.... And he had a really big passenger and ran in spit that day...

I am pretty sure Sam told me his was an 18'
I had a 1448 with a 23 lt for a few years. A couple times we slapped my buddies 23 sd on it and it ran like a bat outta hell one or two people in it.

 Re: 1436 newbie questions.
you might need some exta transom supports, just be sure to wear your kill lanyard, and PFD in winter. do what you got to do, just be careful.

i'm running a 14/36 riveted with a 20 hp longtail. the weight on my motor is around 200 #. i run around 20 or so running minimal gear and solo. with 2men and dog and gear we hit around 16. both running deeper water. running in shallow and soft bottom, add about 4 to 5 mph to it
