 Red River cats
Been so hot I haven't been in the boat in almost 2 weeks. Said piss on it and went an put out a couple trot lines last night about 10pm. Ran them this morning and caught a good mess.

 Re: Red River cats
When I got back to the launch there was a couple brothers fishing. They were packing up cause they hadn't caught anything. I offered them a few fish. They asked what kind. I said cats. They said no thanks they didn't like messing with them. I guess theres a first time for everything...........

 Re: Red River cats
Note to self: go to Bossier and find the river boat sitting in the river. Thats were i need to run my trot line. I love jumping in other peoples honey holes!
Nice catch! Do you pull the skin? I just filet cats with my elect knife like any other fish and people give me weird looks.

 Re: Red River cats
Poker when I get back to the ramp on Sat/Sun there is always several bros fishing. I sell them live cats for ten bucks each. I pay for my fuel for the week on a good day. I dropped a couple of lines on friday myself. I know of a couple of holes that are 50-55 ft deep. I ran one line straight down along the bottom and one on the edge of the deep and shallow. I had around 300# blue cat on the deep line and several gar, softshell turtles and one nice blue on the shallow line. Lesson learned..stay deep. Nice job on the fish and glad you and your son had a good day. Randy

 Re: Red River cats
I baited 1/2 the hooks with live bream. Not a single flathead and most of the bream were still there. I did have 2 hooks straightened out. And your right they are deep right now. If your fishing jugs you might as well stay at the house till midnight cause it will be an early morning bite. The heat index was still 95* at 11pm.

 Re: Red River cats
You just gave me the idea of setting a few lines in the canal by my house.
