war eagle pd rig need pods???
running a 1648 war eagle with 32 pro drive. Motor is way too heavy. Have to put absolutely everything and everyone in front of the boat to plane out. Nearly impossible by myself. Wondering if a set of pods would fix this. From what i can tell the only problem would be you couldnt use reverse. Any ideas would help thanks

12 x 12 bennet trim tabs may be your answer. Check for clearances for the swivel foot to reverse before you install.

You already know the problem - the boat is too short - a pair of 12" pods would NOT provide more floatation than 6" of extra hull length and you want / need a 2' to 4' longer hull....
Sell the hull - sell it fast before the MM hammers the value out of it....
Get you a longer hull - preferably specifically built for the motor you have....

Re: war eagle pd rig need pods???
Gents, I'm in the same situation. I have a Alumacraft waterfowler 16 and the bottom width is 50". I have a Prodrive 36 on it. Boat will plane out but would like more floatation for shallow water. Are the pods from Beavertail worth it? I can't spend anymore money for this year for a new boat, trust me I would love one.

Re: war eagle pd rig need pods???
Pod provide about 200 lbs of lift to back of boat.
If you think that will help your problem, then go for it.
It is much better to sell you boat and get one that is designed for a mm.
If that is not possible, then you can try pods.
I have a 1648 with a 32 pd and added pods because 1) didn't know any better at the time and 2) didn't want to spend the money on a new boat. But at least my boat was a slick bottom boat designed for a mm. Did lose reverse. No way to make that work.
My main issue was the back end sat so low it would swap even with a sharp turn.
Pods fixed me right up, and I am very happy with them.
IF you decide to do pods, I would suggest getting someone to custom build them for your boat, and weld them on. Poorly designed/installed pods can hurt you.
good luck.
