 Which prop should I run?
I have a 24 hp MB HD running on a 1648 Prince craft Mod-v with steel flex on the hull. I am in need of a new prop. Has anyone tried running a MB "Big Prop" on a 24 hp? It comes stock with a 11x10. I will be hunting a rock/gravel bottom 75% of the time. I wore out my current prop and popped a belt on a gravel bar my last trip on the river. While out scouting a couple lakes I was running in skinny water and just mud. Noticed I did not get as much "push" as I should have and then checked the prop after having to "push" my boat out of some concrete looking pudding mix. I also am running a shim and I think that had alot to do with getting stuck because I couldn't get the prop down deep in the mud. SO will a big prop help out when I'm in the mud and handle a load while running a gravel river? Or should I stick with a 11x10 that is factory. Thanks! BC

Re: Which prop should I run?
I have a GTR 35. But if i was you i would stick with the factory prop and maybe try to tweak it out to get that "PUSH" that you talkin about. The 12.25 prop that Mud Buddy offers might be a little to much for that 27 HP, im not for shure but it is a big prop. You can always add a little bit to the prop and put a little cup in it to make it push. Where are you located? If your close i can get that done for you.

Re: Which prop should I run?
I have the 12.25 x 10 on my MB 27 and am considering dropping down to the 11 x 10. The 12.25 x 10 only lets my stock 27 turn up to 3900 rpm's and it likes running deep. Seems like it should trim higher without blowing out. I might take it to a prop shop and get some more cup added to it, or just get an 11 x 10 to try.

Re: Which prop should I run?
BTW Is there much of a difference between the MB 11x10 and a GD 11x10? I found a GD prop for a decent price but don't know if it will work as well as the stock MB prop. Any info you could share? Thanks, BC

Shure deal man. My dad owns a place in Lafayette, La called The Prop Shop. I talked to him to day and he you can find his adress on the internet. He also has a new website coming up in a few days. Send him your props with a paper in the box saying what you want done to them. He has the best prop guy around. When they come in i will go take a look at them for ya. I could test run em for ya, but i got a gator tail so it wouldnt be the same. You can give him a call to if you have any questions. He'll fix you up ma man.
