Re: I don't know where to start.....
...so I have been workin on a big time coal deal and MMayes has been doin his usual invention and mass marketing thing but he has slowed down a little since the divorce because feeding the twins every night has been wearing him out . Anyhow we had to meet some attourneys up near Cincinati about project "x". It seems like the Amish fella that we bought the first hyper drive 45 from at the flea market in sandusky had a few outstanding warrants for stealing fertilizer to make drugs. With the home.and security and Obamas crackdown on the right wing dudes like brother abeneezer didn't stand a chance.
They got him in a room and hung him by his ankles till he confessed all kinds of weird stuff and in the proccess implicated me and MMayes over a truckload of hybrid crape myrtles we had moved from a bankrupt tree nursery in middle Tennessee and traded for some sub grade cigarettes (two truckloads) from a factory man in central Virginia. Mofo spilled his guts and the Feds had us dead to rights until abeneezer shit his pants when they untied him from the ropes. They smelled it and asked if it was him and he said,"no". They investigated and found out that indeed he had shat all over hsself and knew he was capable of lying and figured he may have lied about us so they had to subpoena us to get the truth.
I stayed up late last night "talkin" to Dorcinda so I was in no shape to fly. Mmayes took the helm and we charged down the runway an hour before daylight. it was 38 degrees on the ground. We climbed out fast and soon we were at 3300 feet when all of a sudden we were falling fast . Mmayes reached for the cockpit light and knocked over his beer and said,"gawddammmit" look at the thermometer". It read -12 c. There was a front coming thru band the moisture in the air was making us a huge ice ball. I told Mmayes to turn around and as we dropped the temps warmed up and the ice melted from the wings but it was still a close call. We dropped below the clouds and com Ntinued on our journey at 1200 feet dodging towers and hilltops all the way. Our meeting with the lawyers was a total waste of time because they wanted to k ow how we were tied in with the Utah syndicate and we had no idea what the heck they talking about. We ate lunching Madison Indiana at a little French bistro on the river that makes a fine rueben and broccoli cream soup.then we got altitude and headed back to aintry where we made several passes over cheaters timber operation and looked at the duck blind before getting back safely on the ground.
Dorcinda had some hot enchiladas ready for supper and now we are sitting here by the fire getting ready to turn in for the night. Just another slow day in Aintry.

Re: I don't know where to start.....
It's hot here now and the last of the spring floods is trickling out of the bottoms. 97 degrees in the shade and deafening noise as the 13 year cicadids keep rubbin their own legs while they wait for some lovin. The high water was the highest anyone alive in Aintry has ever seen. Lots of stuff floated off and some stuff floated in over the last six weeks and Even though Aintry is still Aintry me and Mmayes agreed the other night when we was froggin that it just somehow ain't the same.
We lost a lot in the flood....the original project "x" was in the barn that was 14 feet under water and it is going to take lots of work to clean out. We also lost the life-sized wooden chainsaw carving of G.L.enn that Mmayes did one night on an 3 foot tall ash stump when we were celebratin Scooters 40th birthday with a huge bonfire and bourbon barrel tapping three days before he got hit by that train. Mmayes took that one especially hard and went off and got religion. He got baptized down at the ferry and has turned over a new leaf. I can't say that I blame him though because thinks had gotten out of hand a while back and he was darn near non-stop shootin dice and fightin with the waves of Mexicans that come to town when they opened up the chicken plant in Sebree. Gettin religion ain't a bad thing at all......matter of fact it may have been what we have been searchin for the whole time we have been on this quest for a bigger faster more better muddmotor.
We started project "x" in a confusing time back when everything was longtails. The country had been punched right square in the gutt by the bastards that knocked down those buildings in New York. You know we never carred much for New York but it did bother us because we had some venture capital folks and blue chip guys that we knew that got vaporized in all that. It was a weird time and we needed something to keep us grounded..you know focussed. So we rolled up our sleeves and did some fine work and had some good times traveling the country working for G.l.enn and then eventually competing with him when he turned against us. He chased us North and South and even followed us to a chicken fight in thailand one time. It was a lot of fun.
Now we are entering a new age. Bin Ladden (the boogey man) is dead and everyone is just kind of looking for whats next out there. Aintry has for the most part floated away and we are here with the terrible noise and a very funky stank.
We will light a fire on the drift pile tonight and bark at the moon as the warm wind blows the cinders thru the dark sky. Ya'll can say a prayer for the scattered souls of Aintry as you count your blessings . And if anyone finds an ash stump that looks like G.L.enn drop it off at the gate by the beanfield and we will haul it back to the front of the trailer and find some eggs to throw at it.

Re: I don't know where to start.....
I... I... I don't know what just happened. It's like back when you were a kid and for some reason the cutest girl in school decided to invite you over and things started getting a little hot, and then right as she was about to take her shirt off and you were going to get to see the most beutiful set in the whole world, her dad pulled in the driveway and everything came to a crashing hault leaving you wanting so much more but knowing there's a good chance that you will never get anything beyond the fainting memory of what could have been.
It's weird. I feel humbled to have been able to read it, but it leaves me empty.
I will say this, if you are not a writer, you seriously missed your calling. There are people who can tell you things, and then there are story tellers. You sir, are a genuine story teller. There are not a lot of those it seems, or maybe too many are buried in the small little "Aintry's" of the world, but they really need to be brought to lite. It is very few and far between that something I'm reading can hook me like you did. Gordon MacQuarrie is one of those who can (only one that comes to mind right now because I'm just getting into the "Old Duck Hunters" stories).

Re: I don't know where to start.....
Well Boys I got to tell ya, the dam stomach cancer didnt turn out to be all that bad and I got over it fairly quick. Mmayes stopped by the hospital with some chinese turtle nuts that he had traded for on his last trip to the Orient. Me and him had been workin on a deal selling old carnival and fair equipment to the manchurians and getting whole cargo ships of knock-off Nike stuff that he would send to his pals in New York city and they were paying us with Harley Davidson apparel that we would hock to various vendors at flea markets and roadside stands across the southeast. We even ended up with a truckload of true glasspack dual mufflers that sounded really cool and you wouldn't beleive who was beatin the bushes and wearin out our phone lines trying to get them specked out for a big goofy hyped up version of a hyper-drive.
So we was peddlin this stuff and got into some dam good dice games in South Mississippi. Mmayes was on fire for about three weeks and I found a new inspiration for my investments. I had found some very sound wisdom in the book of proverbs. It isn't too hard to see if you just read it but you have to kind of soak it in. While Mmayes was bankrollin the cash I was doin my best to make sound investments. I was workin on about 1000% returns on average since september when Mmayes kicks in the door one day and proclaim," gooood gawd almighty.....ole BM has done got the religion!" . Now this didn't bother me too much because I knew how excitable he was sometimes. The only thing that bothered me was that I had always considered myself a "beleiver" and was pretty confident in the state of my eternal soul but somehow Mmayes had mistaken my new interest in the old testament parrables as some type of radical off the wall fervor. There was no explainin it too him. I still maintained my fondness for good bourbon and fast dice but Mmayes started to kind of drift away...almost as if he were embarrassed to be hisself around me when all the loud business was goin on and the dice were hittin the wall. I couldn't hardly get him to have a conversation with me.
And then it happened......we was outside of Buggies Bayou Bar-b-gue on the banks of the Pearl river havin a smoked pig knuckle sandwich when the first arrow hit me square in the gut. I laid on my back and winced in terrible pain....I rolled and I cried and I hollered. It was fire in my belly and it wouldn't stop. Days and days of it. After the ambulance came and picked me up in the dusty gravel parking lot my memory is kind of a blur.
Sittin in my hospital bed on heavy medication I vaguely remember in a bit of a fog that Mmayes was standin beside me mumblin to himself......somethin about," dis boy is like da only brother dat I ever did have.....an if you see fit to take em den I;ll be alright but i trust in you cause I has to an you is in charge an I won;t never be nothin but A humble servant..and I accept my place as a lowley sinner an...an.." and when I open my eyes an smile ole Mmayes (tears streamin from his eyes) smacks me square across the face and says," Gawwwd dammit BM you got to wake up and eat these chinese turtle nuts cause it's the only thing that can save Ya!" and I whispered while my insides was turning out," mmayes , was you prayin for me?" , "hell no " ,he says," My prayers ain't no good since I fell outta grace years ago.....but my chinese friends say the turtle nuts do wonders on the goshawful ailments like what you got so eat em up".
Well I choked them down and Mmayes quietly left the room. He is a good friend and I hope he has come to terms with all that is going on with himself.
As for me I am holding my own and living each day as if it were my last pig knckle sandwich, I got ups and downs and arrows commin at me everyday but its all good. There is a Lord up there that cares for us and all our silly details. He is there as I sit at my desk and study and make my silly little investments and I truly believe that he would never ever require me to eat turtle nuts no matter how bad I have been.

You sir...have a gift. Thank you for posting.....I find it odd, that after reading thru the last 5 pages, that your last paragraph was the best part of all for me. Maybe that's why it's so tempting to read the end of a book.
