Post Benelli Vinci
I got my hands on one of these today. Let me first say I am not a big Benelli fan. I don't want to sound like I am bashing the product, but. It is definetly not for me. It does feel better than the Nova, feels more like a shotgun. But, it is one ugly sum beach. Almost all plastic, comes apart in three pieces, looks like something Luke Skywalker would use to beat the hell out of Darth Vader with. I guess I am too traditional. The rep for Benelli happens to be my neighbor. He spend last week up in Maryland shooting the gun. Said the recoil is equal to a 20ga. Benelli shot 20,000 rounds through one without cleanning with no problems. Also, it is only a 3" gun.

You know guys, i don't get it...I've got a 3.5" benelli that i bought more than ten years ago...i love the gun! It has never jammed, feels good on my shoulder, and is so easy to take apart and clean...now i will say, after a weekend of hunting, i'll break it down and spray with some rem oil...but that is about it...I really like mine. I will say that a buddy had a nova (pump) and i didn't like that gun at all...but then again, i went from a sawed off 410 double barrel to a 12 ga auto(dad cut the stock) when i was 12...so i've never been able to shoot a pump.

Brooks speaks tha troof...guns are to damn expensive...i reckon i've bought my last one...the benelli...i've got two little girls...i think they will be "in" on fishing, but i doubt hunting...regardless, i've got enough hand me downs that i don't need to buy another gun...my first gun, the side by side 410 with two triggers...got a sweet browning 16ga side by side from one grandad, the other gave me a pump 16 ga that the safety is reversed because he was left handed...had a friend of my dad named Barkman that lived down in the bottoms (for you N.E. texas boys) that gave me a winchester 30/30 top eject....thats the one thing great about guns...you can hand them down and typically they don't lose their value reliability...at least the old ones, that's for sure...had to many beeeeeeers...being to chatty...but you guys get the point.....

I'm not really knocking Benelli. They are good guns, not great guns. The biggest problem I have is with the price and the hipe. You can buy a gun as good or better for less, but it is not a Benelli. The only advantage they have is the cycle time. That only matters if your Tom Knap!!!

I will agree on the $1500 ought a shoot shit and bring it to me.

This new Vinci will be $1400 and it is only a 3" gun.

Hey, Swamplord...i've had a winchester and a browning 12 ga auto shotguns and the were far more involved to break down...maybe that is the difference with me...like i said, at the end of a weekend hunt, i'd break down the benelli and clean...but i wouldn't take out the the trigger part but once a year...only unscrew and break down and then spray and wipe down...never have had an issue with jamming...I will say this, i've only had it under freezing for maybe 5 hunts...the rest of the time was on the TX/LA coast...but then your dealing with the salt.

I've never broken my browning or remingtons down to clean them. I only wipe em down! But their pump guns.

Like i said, when i bought mine it was over ten years ago...i was living in Houston and it was $1100 for a 3.5"...my dad had bought a Mossburg (3.5" pump) that, to this day, i don't think i could hit a beer can at ten paces...that gun was horrible.
To buy a "good" gun that was a 3" auto at the time was abut $850...the benelli was the only 3.5" auto at the time...for me, it was a good investment and has served me well.

But then again...my motor is better than yours....

i also think the vinci is damn ugly & fairly worthless to me w/out 3.5" capacity. i had a rotten experience w/ a brand new sbeii & suspect their quality has gone down. jammed, was factory repaired & continued to jam - got rid of it. suspect i had a lemon. my buddy this last season had his brand new beretta extrema2 jam - he had it factory repaired (after ~2 months) - works great now & he loves it. to me, it seems like weaker beretta quality (they own benelli too). i'm going to try either the winchester sx3 or more likely the browning maxus. i have a reliable rem 870 pump & actually my cheap ass charles daily semi-auto, but want a reliable 3.5" semi. can't believe it's this hard at this price. mass market production at sky high prices & low reliability. wtf

Blows my mind that a bombproof 3.5 auto can't be made.

Before anyone posts up...ever single brand out there has plenty of guns that are boat paddles. Remington, Browning, the spaghetti guns, the knockoffs all of em. Gas, inertia, doesn't seem to matter. I think it's more of a QC issue than design.

There is a spring in the butt stock that causes most issues with jamin, (not the action) which isnt easy to get out, it takes tools. As far as just cleanin the bore and action.....yeah its easy. The problem is when you hunt in standing water alot (i do) and cold, below 32.

Heres what was the last straw for me and ol' sbe II in bad weather: Got a 1500 gun (the sbe II) and was hunting in montana and forget it, thats about a 30 hr drive, cold as hell, and long way from home to be for a hunt with a jamin gun, thank the lord for my back up, a lot time and money for that hunt to have even one morning f'd up. BUT as i've said before i like it when weather is good, infact its my favorite turkey gun (light). Thats it i'll get of my benelli soap box...... seriously though they need to knock 700 off it till they get its bad weather issues handled.

i think dis ugly ass venci gets that spring out of the stock. see below. i'm sure they'll be out w/ a 3.5" & many other versions later, but i gots needs now & i tried 'em once already w/out great results.

"The Barrel/Receiver Module houses the In-Line Inertia Driven® action completely within the Vinci’s 8.5-inch upper receiver. The entire operating system, including the short bolt and return spring, functions on the same axis as the bore."
