8 HP crawfish model go-devil, Prop size???
Hey guys i have an 8 hp crawfish model go-devil (58" Shaft), its time for a new prop and the one i had on there is a 10x9, the guy from mud buddy says i need a 7x4. I tried it out this weekend and i think i would be better off with a paddle, i might get there faster. Ive done some reserch and i THINK i need the big prop. Can you guys help me out??? I have a gear box on the back of the motor. Go-devil recommends a 10x9 prop for a 9 hp with clutch, how do i know i have a clutch. If you haven't realized this is my first mud motor and i have no idea what im talking about. Help!!!

Re: 8 HP crawfish model go-devil, Prop size???
Yea mine is an old one too, i didnt see anything but a gear box on back so i guess i dont have a clutch. Hey man what is the advantage or disadvantage of the gears, is it more torch, faster, slower, better in the mud? Where i hunt at my go-devil has problems getting through the shallows and thick mud, i seen a 13 hp idle straight through it. Could that have been my old prop? Just ordered a 9x7 prop they think that should work. Thanks for any input...

The crawfish models have a gear reduction clutch or something like that. its a box added on to the block.

yea its just a box on the back with gears, i'll try this new prop and see how it works. The old one was beat to hell, the cup on the prop was wore down and curved the other way. i guess it wasnt grabbing, all it did was spin in the mud.
