 Cool Video
Found this on another site, thought some may enjoy it. I have never had the opportunity to go on a hunt where they are running dogs, but from hearing stories I hope I get to see it first hand one day before the tree huggers outlaw it forever. http://www.huntingfootage.com/ecard.php ... 1234377890

 Re: Cool Video
Its a lot of fun if you have people who know what they are doing. We use to run and I can tell you your heart will start to pump when you hear those dogs getting closer to you.

 Re: Cool Video
I've done it once or twice. Didn't really care for it. I was a stander though, would have rather been walking. Don't think they should out law it though, there are some places that thats about the only way you can hunt them. I've been on the other side of the fence also, where I was bow hunting a small area and had the deer patterned out and the neighbor club ran dogs right thru it purposely. That kinda sucks, but I'll never bad mouth any kind of hunting. Different strokes for different folks. No since in fighting amongst ourselves. There is something majical about the sound of a pack of hounds hot on the trail. I had a pack of beagles for a few years and would just love to listen to them run whether it was rabbit season or not. Lil Dirty, Fatso, Bosco, and Boudin. Hehehehe!

 Re: Cool Video
I've been to some places that hunted with dogs and it was fun. I would say it was more of a social event. I dont really see a problem with it if you have enough land to keep the dogs on and arent intentionally running them through other people's land. I've also had dogs f*ck my hunt up on plenty occasions. Personally I get more enjoyment out of figuring the deer out and getting after them with the bow. To each his own. Hunters need to stick together. Cool video.

 Re: Cool Video
I lived for dog hunting. Ive killed 34 deer in my life and only 6 have been standing still when i shot them. Everything else had a pack of dogs on them. Its a way of life for alot of people and to me, its the biggest rush ever. We used to hunt with dogs off of horseback. After your first shot, the reloading was a little tough. When i owned a couple of dogs, nothing would make me prouder than to hear my dog in the lead of a pack hot on the trail of a deer.

 Re: Cool Video
Grew up to the sounds of baying walkers and ticks running coon with my uncle, he also had a couple coon mules. Unfortunately it has become a lost art up here, back then farmers didn't mind us crossing fence lines, but now with the invasion of city folks, cooperate farmers and the no trespassing sign it doesn't pay to keep a pack unless your hunting the big forest (Chequamegan). Last Monday we had our annual spring DNR hearings and once again the voted down the use of dogs for turkey hunting You guys have got it good down there, keep your heritage alive.

 Re: Cool Video
Cut my deer huntin teeth on dog runnin. Never still hunted til I was an adult. Don't do it any more, but my wife's family still do in Ms. It's a lot more difficult now b/c you need a large tract to run on.
It's steeped in tradition, socializing and really great for bringing youngsters into the sport. I applaud those who still dog hunt b/c they certainly do have the odds stacked against them in keeping their sport alive. It shows their passion for what they do. However, there are a few bad eggs in every basket, & there are some who give it a bad name. Hope they don't ruin it for the rest.

 Re: Cool Video
Growing up I thought the only way to hunt deer was to run em, and still hunting was for bow hunters.

 Re: Cool Video
It's fine if you've got a big chunk of land or terrain that is a bitch to get in. Drop the hounds and surround it. Every other club up here runs 50-11 hounds. Problem we have is, they drop the dogs on your land and then surround your property line and shoot em as they come out. It's a fun way to hunt. Just a lot of our clubs can't control themselves. Also, we have a right-to-retrieve law which says a handler can walk on your property even posted to get his hounds. ....well you know what that means. Everyone walks in and says "I'm looking for mah dawwwgs"

 Re: Cool Video
Gives me geese bumps (da freezons) listenin' ta dat dog music. I grew up huntin' the basin for 25+yrs at Indian Bayou Hunting Club south of Krotz Springs in the 1970's, 80's & 90's. We had 30,000 acres & 80+ dogs to hunt it. We 4wheeled(trucks) into an area, then humped it a 1/4 mile, usually 1 or 2ft under water. We set standers out in hipboots or waders and ran it with the dogs in the morning and still hunted it in the evening as the deer filtered back into the area we had run that morning. More than enough land for the stick & string hunters, still hunters & duck hunters to share alike.
Now I sit in a box stand pullin' my pud and watchin' a corn feeder in a food plot... and we call it deer hunting. I still love it though!
