Post marine audio
Anybody have tunes in their duck rig? Thinking about putting in tunes when I get the new rig. The family might like to ride more if I would equip my rigs better. I don't even have tunes in the flats boat because I originally got it to fish out of :) .

Yes, if you do a search you can find it. They were rigging them up in PVC with the speakers set in
2 elbows or ice chest or under the seats. anyway you want to do it

These Kicker marine speakers sound very good and loud with a small amp.

Post Re: marine audio
A buddy of mine has JL Audio components in his 34' SeeVee. It sounds awesome, but he also has several thousand $ in audio. The cooler idea is pretty neat. I was thinking about (1) 10" JL sub mounted under the front deck (firing down) and (4) 6.5" JL coaxials and a JL 5 channel amp, not sure about head unit. I would use 2 batteries one for motor and one for audio. When (hopefully) I have Uncle J build my boat I will have to consult with him on mount locations. I'll have to search the PVC idea. When I was in high school (22 years ago) I built many bazooka knock offs using PVC.
I just wanted to get an idea of what you guys were using. Like I said I have 2 boats and never really had a need for audio. I just park close to another boat with tunes if we're at the sandbar ;) . My wife brings the lack of audio up whenever we go boating. That problem will be rectified on the new rig..

Terry I am doing a 6x9 cooler this week for my rig (upgrading) what size hole saw for the 6x9 or do you have to use a jig saw because of the oval shape?

my buddy has a stereo he built for his 4wheeler that we used in my boat. Worked well and could hear it at WOT..

It was 4 6" JBL marine speakers and two tweeters with a 600 watt JL audio amp.

I plan on building one similar for my boat using two 6x9 and two 6" Infinity reference marine speakers with a JBL 600 watt 4 channel amp. If needed I will add tweeters.

I have a old 20"x20" square sub box that I had in my tahoe that I am going to cut down and make a stereo/ seat out of.

Also I think as long as I am running that the engine will keep the battery charged. I have the marine CDI and a optima yellow top fors starting and one of the trollin motor/ stereo.

This is all you need: hook up ur ipod and you are set. If you use Dewalt tools, it doubles as a batter charger too.

Just go with these bose and add a sub with a 4 channel amp. I prefer Kicker myself.

I got a box from tractortunes. They make a whole radio to fit under tractor, atv, or boat roofs. Can mount it either under a poling platform which i did or on the side of one of your benches. Pioneer radio with remote included. Two sony speakers with am/fm antenna built in. The one pictured runs 399 and they make one now that has a dome light built in to it for more. Here's a few old pics for reference.

Post Re: marine audio
I stopped into West Marine today & was looking at there 6x9 speakers because I am in the process of upgrading my marine cooler etc.

What I found (and I realize this now) was a pair of 3 way 6x9's for $150 + 25% off

I said no thanks & walked out the door well I was comparing 2 way 6x9 to a 3 way, I hadn't researched them yet. Apparently they have not just a tweeter & woofer but also a mid range for a much better sound.

I am probably going to go back & pick them up because I did a search online and couldn't find any 3 way's as cheap as I found them at the store close but couldn't match the good discount.

Does anyone have any experience with 3 way 6x9's?

I run a pair of 3 way 6x9's powered by a 300 watt amp for my mp3 player. Have them in two different boxes under the front deck. I have been told they sound great.

I saw this at west marine the other day, thought it was a pretty cool idea. Has a built in otter box type compartment behind the radio face so it plays your ipod and also keeps it housed internally away from elements and without having to run a plugin to the reciever. little pricey, but not ruining my ipod and having to replace it more than pays for itself.

http://www.fusionelectronics.com/north- ... oduct.aspx

i see a lot of guys mounting speakers under the forward storage compartment, that sh!t makes me nervous since I store my fuel in there as well. i like the idea of putting it in a cooler or gunbox a little better.
