Post square or round?
just wondering.. if a soft chene boat is slower and drafts more water than a square chene, what would be the benefit of gettin one?

None really unless you like pullin 1/2 G turns at WOT-

They handle like a sports car, but suck carryin a load IMO. Had one for a few years....served me well but I won't get another one-

Runnin a double taper now...still handles great and carries a load (long boat)

I've only run a couple squares...I know there's a "trick" to turnin but I've seen too many slide into trees/banks and such to want one myself-

That being said however....river had him a 1944 square that handled well...guessin because it was narrow maybe??

Yeah - I was lookin at yours on line when you snatched it up, if I'm
remembering right a few months back...

There is no tail lift in your hull - that is what helps it turn sharp at
faster speeds - however that round bottom tends not to "suction"
itself to the bottom the way a square tends to when stopped....

There is always a compromise in a design - that is why good builders like
GD and others offer more than one bottom profile - the tapered is a
good 50/50 compromise - some lift and still some slide....

Gotta figure out what works where you are with the load you carry...

Even then might still need two or three boats to do it all....

Darel's GD boat is a full round chine - designed to "sink" in a turn

which makes it turn so sharp - look at an older GD boat and the paint

will be worn away up the sides about 3 inches for about 2 feet up from the

transom from the "tail sink" that occurs when it turns sharply in shallow

water....

Hey Darrel a guy I know had Tim's build him a hull I think it was in the 17' something class with a hunt deck for a good price but he has not put a motor on it yet.Give them a call and terrorize them about a boat hull to see what they say.By the way he got it for a good price.I have not had a chance to check it out but its down here in Meraux ya know.

They said he will not make a slick hull but hell we ran a rockwell 16x48 for about 10 years through mud and did not any trouble.Matter of fact that hull is fixin to be gettin another GTR on it.About bow fishin I've never been but I've got some friends that do and we were lookin at makin a few rigs this summer but the IRS done forked that up.If you need someone to steer for you let me know I can drink and steer thats easy.
