 Homemade poling platform PD
Built this poling platform on a 1848pd with a 36pd. It is made of 1" sch40 aluminum pipe.
Its done other than a leaning rail, paint and I still gotta cut the platform from aluminum and glue on the hydroturm. The platform will sit down a little in the top frame to accomodate the hydroturf and to give your feet somethin to catch on the edge.

Looks good.
This is just my opinion, but for me its set too far back. The only thing I use my poling platform for is to hold my generator when I'm bowfishing. And I'd be afraid to have that weight hanging off the back of the boat.

smoke, I was concerned about that as well so we stood on it and jumped and it seems to hold up fine.
It will probably be used to hold a generator for bowfishing but it was mainly built for chasing reds on the backlakes.

I'd just worry how its gona affect performance when in the water. Again, I'm knocking your idea or your fab skills. I can barely spell welder much less use one!

 Re: Homemade poling platform PD
I'm hoping it wont draft much deeper. It will be one person on front and one on back with only a fishing load.
No offense taken, i'm definitely not a fabricator, have a buddy with a spool gun and I got some pipe and a chop saw..haha

 Re: Homemade poling platform PD
It could just been the camera angles but the port side seems to not have the same slope. You also need some gussets in the corners where the pipe attaches to the top for lateral stability. Looks good for your first one.
