Post Trim settings for GTR 35????
Bought the 2011 GTR. They have three small holes on the bottom of the transom mount. Ik they are for adjusting the angle for more bite in the mud for example. What hole do you all have your motor pined in. (May be more then three holes)

Depends on transom angle of boat. Gator-tail boats have a 23 degree angle and middle hole is the best!! If you only have a normal outboard transom then bottom hole is what you need you might even have to put a wedge in it

I have a regular outboard transom. Ran a 40 merc, a prodrive, and now a gtr. I made wedges for it when I bought the GTR but never put em on. Got my pin in the bottom hole and never had a need for the wedges. It lets you trim down as far as possible when in the bad stuff.

As long as the transom is high enough you can leave t in the bottom hole but if you transome is angled more may have to put it in a higher hole

Thanks for the info. should be about a 21 degree angle on the built boat. Going to try the bottom hole before making the wedges. Tenpoint do you have any pictures of the wedges you fabed

I have a factory crimped boat and I'm not sure of the transom angle. I used to have the pin in the second hole (from the bottom) and it used to trim up too high when running causing the RPMs to climb higher than I'd like. I dropped it down to the bottom hole (Tenpoint suggested) and now it digs deeper in the mud and it trims out just right.

Depending on my load, I change the setting each time I'm out. If its not performing well, I switch to the other and it makes a difference on bigger loads.

Put your stock pin the bottom whole and buy you a grade 8 bolt the same size drill a hole in the end of it and use that one for a quick adjust bolt, thats the way i'm running but i find mine to run real well in the middle hole

I have a tall transom and it sticks out pretty low when on the bottom notch

They all run different. You may find that for all around running you run better in the top or middle hole but for digging you want to drop to the lowest hole. Some rigs run fine in the bottom hole. I have seen better speeds in the higher holes with the same motor on 2 different hulls. Right now my quick pin is in the top hole and the permanent pin stays in the bottom.

I run mine in the top hole if I get stuck & need to trim down deep I just pull the pin like Take'em said...

No you can't you'll have to build the transom up to fit the tall transom 21". I take that back you can run it on a small transom but you will have WAY to much motor in the water there for anytime you try to run mudd you will be dragging the motor belt housing defeating the purpose in the motor. The bottom of the belt housing should be just above the very bottom of your boat for the application to work.

I was running my motor on the middle pin. Moved it to the bottom for the SETX run and have just left it there.

Mine stays in da bottom hole. If I put it in the top, I can trim my prop out of the water. Dont think Ill ever need to do that while Im running. And it wont trim down far enough to get out of sh!t. Put it in the bottom hole and all those problems went away.

Ok boys Gtr lesson of the day. Which hole you should run. Take a gps wot trim up if you gain speed while trimming up and trim runs out go up a hole now if you running and trimming up and you start loosing speed that means you have enough trim so that hole is good now if your in the mud bottom holes are the best for digging except if your in a hard bottom

X2. Thats what I did when my motor was new. Some people think you should always be turning 4000 rpms. My motor runs fastes (on gps) at about 3680. I can still trim up more rpm but as rpm goes up, speed goes down. Too much prop out of the water. Doing what Terry said is the only way to find out. Also if you trim up too much youre gonna have alot of tiller torque.
