What is the best 35hp
Looking at buying a mud motor in the 35hp range narrowed it down 2 mudbuddys mini 35 or the hdhunter. Prodrives 36 or the 35hp from go devil any1 who has owned these motors or knows more about them wat is the best bang for the buck would be goin on a 16ft jon boat not sure on how wide but id say its wider the normal boats? 3 guys 200 pounds each dog nd gear dont wanna be driving a pooch around!

Re: What is the best 35hp
Throw a tape measure across the bottom - that's yer width - anything less than 42" with square chines will have trouble with the weight of that motor and those guys...

I like the Go-Devil. Tough motor for the money. Prodrive is kinda $$$$ but FPR is bada$$!!!

Re: What is the best 35hp
Gator tail- instant reverse, FAST, all aluminum, great service. MB- Leader in industry, great service, always working on new mods, affordable. GDSD- good service, no neutral, heavy, affordable. Pd- seems to be nice but i dont personally like the design as much. plus iv heard stock for stock theyr the slowest.

Re: What is the best 35hp
Same powerhead, different features. Depends if you want a clutch, a clutch and instant reverse or a clutch and FPR. 3 brands would have similar handling characteristics and the PD more like a outboard as far as shorter tiller swing. Either way you go the same ol' applies here, test drive them cause they all cost alot of dough. Hull choice plays a big factor in performance.

It DOES NOT have an aftertmarket Cam.
It is a round chine boat with full floatation and plenty of side and floor bracing. So its not a stripped down hull either. We all know from reading on the www. That the round chines are 1-2mph slower. Just what I've read.....
I cant speak for the guys running at sea level but I've driven GT motors here. I did drive a stocker GT that ran 29-30 but it was on a 350lb boat that was only 15' Of all the motors I've seen and driven I see no speed difference when comparing Them in the same conditions,
I just don't see it.
Let see jack azz all the motors run the same speed where you live. Well not trying to bash any other brand of mm BUt here in LA. where 3 of them are made and tested. WE all know that the gt is the fastest and the pd is the slowest. So with your last comment you just convenced me that you know absolutely nothing!! Heard it many many times...

Done nickled this thread up. Labs4Life can't answer your question but my boss has a 16 ft with the 25 and he says he should have gone with the 35. You can always get a bigger boat.

Lots of FE's on here give their opinions on stuff they have never owned.
I have had been very happy with my MB and their customer service, but Labs- I think the best motor out there is:

Re: What is the best 35hp
Here's the damn deal. You wanna go fast, get an 1848 hull made out of .065 Buy ya one every 6 months or so. Or better yet get an outbard. You wanna run a little vegetation, logs, mud etc every other Saturday then it doesn't matter one damn bit what you buy. They'll all handle weekend warriors. Customer service doesn't mean shit when you are broken down in a swamp in the dark. A website and a free t-shirt means jack shit about then. If you want to do shit nobody else can do, get FPR.
