engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
Anybody have a suggestion on how to remove this bolt. I figured this would be easy but now the freaking bolt is just turning and I have the nut on top held down with a small wrench. Could it be stripped? Here is a pic of what I am talking about thanks.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
I thought it was just a pass thru bolt with a nut on it. I didn't think it was threaded through the motor mount. Might check with Poker1 or another one of the PD guys, but I think ya can just tap it with a hammer & drive it out. Again, double check with one of the PD guys before beating on it.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
Are you saying is not threaded? There is a nut with threads. I was trying to remove it from the bottom side and holding the nut from the top. Should I try to remove it from the top and hold the bottom part? I think is partly threaded at the top. I have a lot to learn about this motor. Thanks for the info. Just talked to Peck from PD and he is telling me that I shouldnt have to remove the engine bolts! To put the exhaust. I know the stock muffler is not that way. I am just following the directions that came with it. Any suggestions? Anyways he did say that it should just come off with a wrench. He did say it could stripped, this sucks.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
It is a threaded bolt in a smooth hole that uses a nut to hold it all together. It's probably just in a slight bind so it doesn't just fall out like it should once the nut's removed. Should be 4 of em total, one in each corner. I don't know if the mount bolts need to be removed for the BPS exhaust or not, but I don't remember havin to pull them to instal a MM though. Owen will be able to speak 1st hand on that one.

Well one of the bolts is stripped but i am going to cut it off. Are the brackets needed? The muffler is set just like the stock.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
The brackets will help. They are about to discontinue the crossover for the PD because they are having so many problems with them cracking, or so I have been told. Mine cracked in 4 places and has something loose rattling around inside it, but Keith at SETX is taking care of it for me.
Put a wrench on the lock nut on top, and use a socket on the bolt from the bottom. Keep going until the lock nut on top is removed from the bolt and then the bolt should slide out from the bottom.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
it will crack just like mine did, but I welded mine up and haven't cracked in 150 hrs. there needs to be more of a weld on them rather than just the small weld seems on there.

That sucks to hear that about the BPS exhaust. I talked to Micah at Mudbuddy and he never mentioned about the exhaust issues and than why would he. You live and learn! Well see what happens, thanks again for the help.

Water will get in there and cause a little corrosion, just spray it with WD-40 or so and work it back and forth it'll eventually come out, if you have to tap on it then put a nut on it so you don't bugger the threads all up.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
Here is a pic of my exhaust, is this a new and reinforced version? I was told it was and shouldn't have a problem with cracks we'll have to wait and see. Did notice a gain of a 100-150 more rpms just running it in the driveway.

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
Haven't tried that yet, is it loud as hell? They way it is now, there is nothing loud about it , but it does sound better than my stock.(does have a low rumble.)

Re: engine bolts hard to come off to install BPS exhaust!
1- yes that's the new style. 2- will be louder and perform a lil better without the silencer
