Post Re: Watts vs. Lumens
Lumens is the amount of light produced.

I'm betting the lights that are 150 watt that put out 15000 lumens are hps. They need less generator to run but put out more than twice the light. If you buy them you won't be disappointed. They kick@ss.

you can buy six halogens for the price of 1 hps, but they r worth it.

Yeah Lumens is a measure of light intensity in terms of only the light output... The higher number the better = more light intensity. HPS & MH lights are expensive they also require a ballast to operate them. Wattage is just the measure of power consumed / used.

Yeah the candlepower / lumens thing is complicated as heck...

You would expect a simple math translation - but there isn't one
because the rules on determining candlepower are very lax as they are
allowed to take that measurement from a pinpoint area and the rules on
lumens are quite strict as they are taken across a defined broader area...

So candlepower is like MM WOT speeds - it is often exagerated - LOL

Candlepower = the relative brightness of the light source

Lumens = the visable light projected into a square meter at a distance

But 100 lumens = 1257 candlepower --- in theory.....
