Post 23 GTR on a 1638 homeade boat
How well will a 23 GTR do on a 1638 all welded boat? I don't run mud flat, just stumps, logs, shallow water, muddy shallows every now and then, Back water, Etc. Right now i am running a 18hp go devil longtail. It does pretty good but i would like the manuverablity of the 23 GTR.

Too narrow. You will regret it.

It may do okay, see if you can test drive it on there.

18x40 is ideal for 23 GTR. I just sold it. and would never buy nuthn smaller than a 35 on a 17/54 max. But that's just my opinion they do well with 1 person after that it's not good enough for me

i test drove a 23 GTR on my 16x38 GD hull and it performed horribly (max speed was 19mph) . i don't think the rounded chines helped much.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, I would say it would perform the best all around with the 1746 gatortail boat with only a drivers seat, no gun boxes or extra shit.

But if it were me, and you arent restricted by any horsepower limits where you run, I would find the extra 1600 dollars somewhere and buy the 35 and be done with it.

Had a 16/36 Weld built with a 23 GT. Fast and great in the mud ,only draw back was stability. Was great with myself and one other person, lost about 3mph with a 3rd. Got a young son and just didn't feel comfortable with him in the boat, if I was a youngster I would put some mods and keep it.
