Post 3/8" shaft longtail prop, does it exist?
I have a home made 5 hp long tail with a crummy plastic prop. It has a 3/8" shaft with a shear pin setup, held on with a nut. is there a metal long tail smaller diameter prop with this size shaft?

It wouldn't be my first choice, but its all I got to work with for now. Anyone seen a metal prop similar to this or hell even a source for another plastic prop would do me. i just use this thing to putt from my backyard cooley to the bayou, doesn't get much abuse but does go where a outboard can't at low tide.

Thanks a lot guys, don't know why I didn't think of the sleeve option before? Thats why I always get a few extra pairs of eyes on a problem, always helps. Might even get lucky and find a prop for a direct fit from that link Thanks

that appears to be a trolling motor prop. you may be able to get a new plastic one of if you look real hard u may find an alum. one. its going to be an older motor and ide check some marinas for some old stock. back in the day they would have a display with odd alum. props.

also if you go with the sleve thing ide ask around for a used or worn out prop to try first. ide say about a 10-12 hp worn out prop may work or it would give you an idea. any thing should work better than the plastic one you have. i would imagen it flexes pretty bad under load.

The plastic prop and shear pin is to protect that tiny shaft. The shaft will not last one good hit otherwise.

not being a smartass by anymeans but i dont think he will gain high enough speeds to get a "good hit" to mess up his shaft at all.

          yea this thing sure ain't like my old 15 whaler with a 115 inline 6 merc on it, but the damn thing is so stingy on fuel ya gotta love it. I bet I didn't use 2 cups of fuel this mornin when I went out to check my jug lines (bout a 1.5 mile trip), got me a 8lber, 3lber and a couple 1lbers.

The Boat Yard has a lot of old junked motors that have aluminum props. I bet u could get a prop from there that u could work with.
