How do you know when its time to change the skeg? And how much does a replacement cost?

 Re: Skeg replacement
The round bar is not there and it is actually worn off where it is welded to the skeg right below the prop

 Re: Skeg replacement
What I have found is the round bar under the prop keeps you from getting as many prop strikes when it rides up over stuff. If you have wore it off you must be running alot of sand or rocks. Without the round bar I find that I can dig deeper with the prop in a hard bottom. I haven't had any issues without it but I do get more prop strikes than before.
