Post Soap Sprayer for mudboat
This may seem like a stupid idea, but has anyone put a soap sprayer on a surface drive rig? Got a spot that I have to cross a nasty mudflat that is littered with waterlilies. If I run over lillies, it's game over. I make it across about half the time. Y'all think the combination of a sprayer and a slick bottom would help out? I don't know if soap even helps on mud.

It may help a little but ya prolly wont be impressed. Only answer to lillies on mud is a good running start and HP. Ive seen airboats get stuck on that crap. Worth a try, Im sure it cant hurt.

I can only imagine the prolonged effect of using diesel and soap on the environment like fukking hull lube. Much less the fine for getting caught doing so.

Really.

I run "Rig Wash" which is bio degradeable and slick as owl sh!t in the airboat sprayer. You can buy it in 5 gallon buckets. Diesil is good rig wash is better, trust me! Vegetable oil can be used also but it will gum up the sprayer if not used after a short time.

Maby the combo of poly and spray would get you across with less effort.

Keep us updated.

Poly and tire wet works great. one of the best speeds I got was running across lilies on Caddo Lake at 40mph. Boat took off when I hit em.

The deal is is I have a pond down the river that is landlocked by a mudflat on a low tide. When the wind is howling and the water is blown out of the marsh, this pond is very protected and holds about 4" water, if you can get in the pond on days like this, you are officially on the "X".

Problem is that when the water gets that low, the mudflat is as much as 2' above the water line. I have to hit it WOT going up hill almost. Initially the boat wants to stop, but if the prop gets enough bite, it'll recover and chug on through. Sometimes i make it sometimes I don't. If the combination of a slick bottom coating and a soap sprayer would help the boat slide just a bit instead of stopping almost immediately, I could make it through with no problem. I'm willing to give it a shot. I watched too many birds pouring into that hole last year while trying to get unstuck.

I have some experience with running and hunting down the river and trying to get into very specific areas which you are talking about and the problems it presents. When it comes to lilies with two inches of hard bottom sand, well that is a mother phucker whatever brand you are driving. I do not have any experience with soap sprayers or diesel, but a slick bottom will help you out some. I currently have frog spit on the bottom while others prefer steelflex.

In regards to running across the specific area u are describing, I have seen a specific situation in the delta that might be similar to yours. The only solution we came up with when we found a place was to get about two or three boats and start running back and forth trying to cut a path. The problem was we would cut a path but sometimes you couldn't always see it depending on the tide. We adressed that by marking it with cut cane poles that would barely stick out the water. All this was taking place either right before, or during the season.

It boils down to some extra work, but I know you already know it's worth it. You may also have to have a second both running with you, because u might still get stuck. That boils down to running with somebody that is a eal friend or family and is committed to the love of the sport.

I hope thus helps out some and gives u some ideas. That place can be heaven and hell all in one day. Good luck

I'd work on getting me a channel blown through that mudflat, take a pump with you on highh tide if you got enough water to feed it.

Lillies on top of mud is more like trying to run across dry sand. If the mud flat isnt hard bottom, u might b able to let off the gas as u hit the flat and then get back on the gas to keep from blowing out. The best thing to do wif the lillies would b to get them out your way if possible.

Whistling Wings,

Have you seen the pond this year since the high water, or you won't see it until the fall?

The liliies could be worse or none at all.

10-4 on keeping it landlocked.

Still thinking about how to help you out.

Just drive/send a truck up to gilmer and i'll send it that way.

That goes for everyone....if you need some PVC i got it but only got about 50 or so sections left.

do you really need your boat in the pond? would dragging a pirouge be easier than having to mess with the extra weight of a spayer and cost. What about a winch, sounds like that might be your best option for in case you get stuck?
