I can't even imagine how that bent and cracked while on the water. Everyone knows that as soon as u hit a Lilly the prop jumps out the water. I think that would have to happen when the engine drops back down. Can't imagine enough torque to bend the plate. Welds crack all the time. Plate don't bend easy. I hate to say it, but Giga might b on 2 something.

That is not an unusual defect on the early GDSD's. I've seen it 3 or 4 times here in Alaska. I'm not sure what the forces are that cause it, but I am sure it isn't happening on the trailer. I haven't seen this happen on newer units since that area was beefed up during production as soon as it was identified. My fix is simple. I replace the entire part the trim is on with one that is stronger. If you have one that is bent any competent welder can straighten it and add gussets to beef it up. Obviously, if you have the early style and it isn't bent, gussets can be added to keep it from bending.

coco said that this rarely happens but it does happen , he said that its from it hitting the trim hard, but if your running in thick vegs you have too pick up the motor and force it in the mud to bite,

So, the duo says they don't break but the manufacturer says it does. I'll be damn.

brah, you have to get a crane, i mean engine hoist, for that job - or a partner to pick the engine up - and a rack to hold it? what a pain / tools i don't have & people i don't want to bug. for me, this repair would have been a trip to baton rouge. my engine's so f'in greasy (heavy salty water), i'd have to spend over 1/2 an hr cleaning it first. also, if it has just 61 hrs on it, it can't be real old.

me so stupid - still for me, pulling the engine off is fairly big. i live an hour from coco & even though my rig lives 45 min the opposite way, with just 61 hours on it, i'd have dragged it to him. hell, even if it was out of warranty, i'd think he'd repair it free - or should.

He gave me the option to bring it or I could do it my self, I did it by myself within 30 minutes , I live about a hour and a half away from the shop
